New Skarner in ARAM?

I was reading about the Skarner revamp, and apparently now he's going to have little buffing crystals scattered around the jungle which can be captured. It sounds strange, but whatever is going on in the jungle doesn't directly affect me, since I play ARAM 99% of the time. So what happens with Skarner there? Will ARAM and Treeline be getting crystal points too? Or Skarner will just be kind of broken in other game modes?
