Anyone else finding Hextech a little discouraging?

I'm noticing, the more I play in this new Hextech system, that my enthusiasm for the match I'm in falls off a cliff once it becomes clear S rank isn't happening.

I got one S rank chest the first day. Since then, nothing. And it's not like it really matters. I have all the champions I want and far too many skins (2 away from 500, if my count is still right), so there's barely anything left in LoL for the Hextech system to even give me. There is truly no reason for me to care. But, still not getting any chests makes me feel bored, and boring.

I will admit, I was already kind of burned out on season 6, in general, since I'm not a fan of the new snowball meta, and I absolutely despise how useless towers have become. (Weak towers just makes learning new champions more difficult, in a snowball meta that already punishes you for experimentation and playing unfamiliar roles/champions.) I was still 100% engaged, though, before Hextech, in the games I did play. I just played less often.

But now I enter most matches at three-quarters steam to begin with, because never getting any chests is just sort of exhausting, and then if it's a bad start, and the chance of S rank disappears, it's (often, literally) all I can do to stay awake until a nexus is destroyed, and I have only the most abstract level of interest in whose nexus it will be.

Anyone else having issues resembling my own? Or am I the one person in 35 million feeling Hextech related disenfranchisement? I'm curious.

I definitely think there are better ways to go about the whole Hextech crafting system as-well as the Champion Mastery system. Almost everything Riot is doing right now could use a few tune-ups or changes.

I'm not really sure why game-modes are getting removed or why chroma-packs aren't a park of the champion mastery system or why we still only get 6 bans for all 120+ champions. The list goes on and on

I'm more offput by the task of getting the keys for the chests.

Getting S ranks was sortof a big deal for the first couple days, but after that I'd gotten my 4 S rank chests so getting further S ranks doesn't really do anything for me until the next chest slot unlocks, and I'm sure theres plenty of people in a similar boat. Even if you're a one trick pony and you have a hard time earning S ranks on more than one champion, you can always hop into some premades and hope someone else has a good game and get your chest unlocks off their S ranks.

I've had 9 key fragments since release though, and they get rarer with each fragment drop. Getting enough to open all the S rank chests (5 atm) is getting increasingly daunting, and it feels as if I'm always going to be playing catch up with the fragments, as by the time I earn another 3, there will be yet another chest available, and the fragments will be even rarer.

Fragments requiring a win does keep me involved in the outcome of the game (as well as sortof IP and mmr, although I have most of what I want and I'm referring to normals so don't particularly care about mr), but my excitement over the hextech system does have a bit of a futility cloud hanging over it.

Look. Even if you have a bad start it doesn't mean it will end badly.

I had a game yesterday as Aurelion Sol jungle and I was absolutely shit all throughout the early game. I think I was like 1/4/3 at some point, or something like that.

I finished 8/8/30 and got an S- or S (can't remember).

If you don't get tilted, it's completely possible to come back.

I absolutely hate this hextech system, I dont like to spend 50 dollars and not get a single gemstone towards hextech annie, which is the ONLY thing i want from it. Once I get it I cant wait to be done with it,

Chest drops are easy to get. Find a chat room and invite four randoms from in there instead of queueing up by yourself. Your odds of getting a chest multiply by 5x in a premade.

Keys are the worst, even with 5 man premades the drop rate is pretty bad, I'm not even sure if premades help out as much for keys as they do for chests.

Not motivated enough i guess since you have all champions and 500 skins + you seem to not like the season 6 meta Or the early game goes a little bad "oh 0-2 there goes my S" , solo play can be hard to get a S rank you cant just hard carry every game You could try and play with some other players from the "HEXTECH" chat room to get the chests and also the key fragments

From my experience the chests are somewhat easy to get (with a premade) win or lose if someone on the team gets a S you have the chest The key fragments are a different story, you need 12 fragments to open the 4 chests you get, could take 30 games or even more with a premade to get them since the drop rate decreases every time you get a fragment, the sad part is if you start losing the game you will have at least 1 team mate raging at you or someone else "gg no win no key, adc sucks, jungle sucks no ganks, report this useless support" and you have to play another game after that cause you need key fragments -cant handle it? not enough time to grind the keys? duh, buy them, maybe you get a kalista champion shard

And this is the best part about the system, lets say you are a support main, play 3 champions Alistar, Janna, Thresh you get a S with all 3, but next week you cant get another chest if you play the same champions and get a S for the whole season 6, you have to buy other support champions, you have to learn them and take criticism cause you suck at them being the first couple of games trying to learn, finally got a chest for every support champion and what now do i play azir support? no cause i get reported for trolling and feeding

The hextech thing its just a sample of play and earn cool stuff, at some point you have to buy chests or keys (since you cant play every champion to get chests and cant play 1000 games to get all the key fragments needed) like giving a kid free candy 3 days in a row and in the 4th day you ask for a toy in return, or just ignore the system and play for fun like before it was added My 2 cents... no hate

I've focused more on the message the Hextech Crafting System is sending players who want to master a champion: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/l3Myonds-why-discourage-champion-mastery

But this is something I've thought of as well. Both of these combine together to make me not want to play League anymore. It just doesn't feel good knowing that no matter what choices I make they're always going to be the bad choice either for me as a player in a game of League (am I making the right choice to enjoy THIS game or the right choice for my Comp, is this risk worth risking the S-rank? ect.) vs a bad choice to utilize the HCS (I have experience with this matchup and this champ would make a solid fit BUT if I pick Amumu instead I could get an S-rank..)

And then when you combine that with the poor Key droprate and the pretty poor chances of actually getting something useful for anyone who doesn't just play random champions.. It's clear that it needs work. It's confusing and complicated when it doesn't need to be (I understand it but I shouldn't have to work to do so) and is the exact opposite of an Elegant Solution. It's creating more problems while not even solving the one it was supposed to.

//Rant.

I'm not really sure why you would feel anything at all about the Hextech system. It has no relation to your elo and is just a way for Riot to give things away for free. If you have everything you want then ignore it because it doesn't matter. Plus, it doesn't matter if you get an S or not because only one teammate needs an S in order for you to get a chest. It's fine if you're burned out but there's no need to blame it on Hextech.
