Anyone else finding Hextech a little discouraging?
I'm noticing, the more I play in this new Hextech system, that my enthusiasm for the match I'm in falls off a cliff once it becomes clear S rank isn't happening.
I got one S rank chest the first day. Since then, nothing. And it's not like it really matters. I have all the champions I want and far too many skins (2 away from 500, if my count is still right), so there's barely anything left in LoL for the Hextech system to even give me. There is truly no reason for me to care. But, still not getting any chests makes me feel bored, and boring.
I will admit, I was already kind of burned out on season 6, in general, since I'm not a fan of the new snowball meta, and I absolutely despise how useless towers have become. (Weak towers just makes learning new champions more difficult, in a snowball meta that already punishes you for experimentation and playing unfamiliar roles/champions.) I was still 100% engaged, though, before Hextech, in the games I did play. I just played less often.
But now I enter most matches at three-quarters steam to begin with, because never getting any chests is just sort of exhausting, and then if it's a bad start, and the chance of S rank disappears, it's (often, literally) all I can do to stay awake until a nexus is destroyed, and I have only the most abstract level of interest in whose nexus it will be.
Anyone else having issues resembling my own? Or am I the one person in 35 million feeling Hextech related disenfranchisement? I'm curious.
