Finally, finally, I know and I'm sorry about all the complications. But we're here at last! Results in hand and an immense amount of gratitude towards:

Flintfall

for being the ONLY judge this month to make it all the way through the highest word count CCOS to date (not counting myself of course, I'm implied). Seriously, did you all get together and plot to release some of the densest posts this month to stress test the CCOS? (If you did it worked, let me tell you!)

But all that aside I will delay no further!

#The winner of the January CCOS is......

#Kalalipan, Kumungu's Plague by BowieTheNifty at 177/200 points (88.5%), Congratulations!!

#Looking up your score

Step 1) Open up the nexus score sheet HERE (Give a little time to load once you're in) Step 2) If wanted check out the 'Overview' Tab (the one you enter on) to see your score compared to the others. Step 3) Find your concept name in a tab below (you may need to hit the right arrow on the bottom right a few times. Step 4) Look around at the feedback and scores given on your concept

  • NOTE: Due to technical difficulties I won't go into (it's never just one thing that breaks is it?) the feedback will be trickling in on this sheet, so if you don't see feedback on your concept I promise it will be there eventually. Everyone got decent amounts of feedback so look forward to that!

#CCOS Breaking news!

Alright so with this month's disruption, me switching ISP's (this has not been my first tussle with them) over the next month and general everything slamming me at once I am going to be merging February into the March CCOS. What this means is that there will be no Febuary CCOS but the March CCOS will take Febuary concepts. This will give me time to stabilize all the things that broke this past month as well as getting to an important stage in the CCOS.

Firstly: Details on March CCOS....

  • Febuary entries will be taken
  • only 20 slots will be available so it will fill up quickly. BE READY.
  • The entry post will be up NOON Eastern Standard Time give or take only a few minutes, and I will be posting regular reminders. So no one should have an excuse to miss this time crunch.

Secondly I have an important announcement that I will not be advertising heavily: I will be stepping down as CCOS host by the end of May. Reason being is I will be graduating college and moving on to a full-time job. And while I'm excited for that, I doubt I will have enough time to keep up with this in the coming year. I hate to leave at this time since we have so many things in the works from volunteer artists to yearly competitions but I'd rather leave the CCOS in more focused hands and see it continue on than die a slow death when I stumble with time. So, that being said if you are interested in taking my place, getting all the tools and the responsiblity of CCOS host. I will be looking at ONLY those who have FINISHED judging a month of the CCOS as candidates and naturally only those who are interested in stepping up. So if you are interested in continuing the CCOS and haven't judged you have been officially warned.

That's about it, I know you guys will probably have questions on the above bits of news but save those questions for later I'll be making seperate posts on that later this week. THIS post is about the winners of the january CCOS so give them a hand and a congratulations as well as a thank you to Flintfall for being one badass judge.

Judges!

It's never too early to ask to be a CCOS judge for the next month! E-mail me at '[email protected]' with your IGN and I can tell you your chances are very good. It's a lot of time to ask from you, but it's a serious boon to both me and everyone who enters!

Okay, so the next person to step up as coordinator(I would but I have the art) NEEDS to stay in contact with me. Speaking of which, bowle, get in touch with me ASAP.

My Skype is Akenero, shurima icon, and my email is [email protected]

Hey all!

I had a ton of fun reviewing your concepts, it’s always super cool to see what you guys are coming up with. Normally, I don’t like “judging” concepts because I’ve not really had productive experiences with Concept Contests in the past, so I want to make sure that everyone who participated has the chance to really have a discussion about the kit.

Now that the judging period is over, I’m love to talk your concept face-to-face and with no time restraints. Some of the reviews are likely unfair, I didn’t have time to go over each concept with as much dedication as I had with others. If you have any questions about what I said (or didn’t say) please let me know!

Here is the link to all of my reviews:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b5hVTZerIkVi-EQDlwU9hPmVtLLRr8exd75Jc5G21KE/edit?usp=sharing

Good neighbor bonus was given out on the basis that you gave feedback to other concepts, I was pretty lenient in that sense.

But why listen to me? I’ve made 10 fully drafted concepts, my personal favorite being Dane (he's a WIP right now for lore, read the TLDR), and I’ve judged in the CCOS in the past as well as participated.

I tend to focus on the overall direction of the kit and if the character interests me. I like seeing a good balance between reactionary and strategic based decisions in a champion’s kit, and I especially love seeing effort put into a concept.

Woohoo! Glad to see these! I'm a little bummed that I did worse than last month, although still in the top ten.

Still, I love feedback and critique, and I'll definitely be giving it another try!

Wow, second place! I'm kind of surprised though, since there's not a lot of feedback for it, but I'm pretty happy nonetheless. Here's to hoping the technical difficulties get sorted out (I want to see the feedback I got XD).

Oh my lord. I wasn't expecting to do very well with the current amount of entries this round. Especially with the amount of judges on duty this time. Getting first was well not anticipated. So I guess this gives me time to work on my next concepts then. I will be still working on the tank block for my next set of champions. There are three more to be finalized and then I have another surprise one I am happy to input onto the boards. Still their were many great concepts this time around. The feed back helped out a lot so thank you every one.

OKAY! I've been having some computer problems so please pardon the late commentary. For the review I received on my entry Colt from here I can't help but feel there was some bias in the comments. But first let me just respond to the comments first:

Lore: I can agree with this; lore and story writing have never really been my strong suit. And yes, I did get a bit lazy. No disagreements here.

Flow/Fun: You mention that his "passive harms him" without warranting it, but I do feel that he needed it considering just how much damage his Rack 'em up can cause. With out it, he could be dealing +50% damage on hit every hit instead of just "up to" that if he plays well. The reload is there to gate his potential massive damage. Q-E could use a change though I'll admit, and I already have some better ideas, but that's to little to late.

Design Implementation: Here is where things get complicated; You start off comparing Colt to not only a champion you consider better but one you yourself designed, and you know what? I like him too, he's neat, got a better lore (bluh), Smother math on his reload idea, some nifty abilities, and some real character. But all that, it just doesn't seem right to set that standard. Fresh eyes for a clean review or something... Moving on, I noticed something you clearly didn't cover at all in this review; his Ultimate. Not a once do you even mention how it ties together his entire kit and really brings out the idea of walking down a lane popping off rapid fire shots like from some western. This I feel is a grievous oversight, or at least should be mentioned. The W I gave him to have at lest some sort of reason to use it offensively, like reluctantly going forward because HE IS A COWARD, a lucky coward is his theme. Not very well implemented like you said but where would you put luck in the game outside of Crit? (and that could easily get broken)

Novelty: BLUH, this is pretty right...

Cohesiveness: I may not be very clever, but Given what I had to work with I'm still proud of what I got. His ammo system does, in my opinion, fit with his W; "I'm running out of ammo, I better get ready" CD reduction, "I'M OUT OF AMMO, gotta run AWAY" increased duration. E... I could have made it some sort of caltraps or something along those lines in hindsight.

I learned from this contest and I hope to do better on the next one... the next one I enter I mean. I can't do this month and maybe not the next either but the next one I enter... You betta watch out!

any idea what day it the entrys will be up? i want into one again

ShatteredSkys2/22/2016, 9:57:32 PM2 votes

Can one of the judges explain my score though? Even without the Good neighbor bonus I'm fairly disappointed in how Skoll did, I really did believe he was one of my better concepts and I would like to know just what i did wrong?

Also I'm thinking about acting as a judge this month,, is that ok with you sir?

I think i got wrong score sheet. Comment on my champion isn't about my champion.
