Zed - My Balancing Ideas: Q and E Changes

Q - Razor Shuriken

  • NEW: If Razor Shuriken kills a target, the next target hit takes full damage.
  • NEW: Shurikens always deal full damage towards champions marked by Death Mark.
  • GOAL: Give Zed more strategies during laning phase, and give him a stronger all-in during teamfights.


E - Shadow Slash:

  • Damage increased from: 70/95/120/145/170 (+80% bonus AD), to: 80/105/130/155/180 (+80% bonus AD)

  • NEW: Proccing Contempt of the Weak reduced the cooldown of Shadow Slash by 2 seconds.

  • CHANGED: Enemies hit by a shadow clone's Shadow Slash, take 80% damage and are slowed for 1.5 seconds.

  • CHANGED: If Zed hits an enemy champion with Shadow Slash, Living Shadow's cooldown is reduced by 4 seconds, additional enemy champions hit reduce it by 1 second.

  • CHANGED: Enemies hit by multiple slashes take no additional damage but instead have their shielding reduced by 40% for 3 seconds. (No longer increases the slow)

  • GOAL: Give Zed stronger melee damage, but weaker ranged damage. Give Zed a stronger 1v1 and 1v2, to help him during his laning phase, but a weaker 1v3/4/5. Increase Zed's skill-cap and reward him for getting close to his target by reducing their shields, this requires Zed to put his shadow clone close to his target, limiting his escape.

I instantly know what feedback you will get, and it will have nothing to do with anything other than "OMG YOURE WANTING TO BUFF ZED, NO NO NO"

The changes you propose look interesting, but it would take someone who actually plays him to give feedback on that. Im a supp main, i know how to shut him down not play him xD, well... i can, just not well, i know the basics of what he is SUPPOSED to do, i just cant execute it lol

I do not really think the Q change is necessary. While I get the idea of why you want this change (to open up wave manipulation strategies for damaging the enemy) in the end I do not see this really becoming a thing (just look at Kalista's Q) and it is just adding damage to an already powerful ability. The change to the E, however, is something I really like. The damage increase maybe not so much but swapping out the bonus slow effect for a shield reduction one I think is a nice touch as it allows Zed to actually assassinate targets through moderate shields if he is able to play the scenario correctly. At least these are my understanding of the changes.
