A death at 20 minutes does not equate to a death at 45 mins. The 45 min death will be more valuable as it might spell victory or defeat for your team. Lets give you 3 scenarios at minute 30, 45, and 50 respectively. The tree is basically kindred's ult but with a more stupid effect at the end of it
1st scenario: You're soloing drake as jungler at 30 mins, took the tree of death and the other jungler is outside with vision of the pit and has just jumped/flashed into the pit. you are ready to compete with the enemy jungler for drake when suddenly you get gray screened and because you got 10 dmg from the enemy jungler, the kill and drake goes to the enemy jungler and you are now behind by a drake and even more behind as a jungler.
2nd scenario: Your team is pushing down mid and you are the ADC, and took the tree of death by the dragon pit in a teamfight at 10 mins to get a triple kill. Now you are sitting at 12/8/13, and are clearing waves when all of a sudden their assassin/fighter/tank locks onto your mage. What ensues is just a normal teamfight, with both sides trying to eke out the most damage. You suddenly gray screen because of the tree of death, your mage cant keep up with the damage from the enemy and dies, and your tank slowly dies after your fighter because its now a 2v4. You get aced and its a loss.
3rd scenario: You are outside the baron pit as Fizz mid with 20/12/5, and the whole team is ready for your signal to jump into the baron pit to steal it, you E into baron, and ult the enemy squishy, when you gray screen cos you took tree of death when you were 1v2ing the mid and their jungler. Your team has no escapes, those who have flash burn it, and the enemy get baron. Another loss
This is just some examples and in each of them you are either fed or average. I hope this tells you why the tree of death shouldn't be in the game. Its too RNG and not enough reward XD
I understand that when you come up with a new idea in your mind its like WOA WHY HAS NO ONE THOUGHT OF THIS IM A GENIUS and it hurts to have criticism but you have to take everything with a grain of salt. When i post artwork i dont expect 100% positive criticism, and neither should you.
I do think that it is a fun idea tho, and am totally behind the wolf lamb idea proposed by @sancree
