When the boards are begging for a support champion
But then it comes time to play support
But then it comes time to play support
I want a support that creates portals for skillshots. That Ezreal Q won't come at you from the front any more.
Would it be overpowered or even needed? No, but it would probably be a Bard level of fun to play.
Fun idea, but I think there would be too many complaints about the support trolling with it or something.
I really like this idea actually, with things like
wall or even just beefy tanks lining up to block shots it could be a really innovative way to reshape a game. Heck it could even see competitive play with teamfighting lines being so defined (tank up front, squishies in the back). It would be a bit difficult though to set it up so that the range on the ability itself is fair though.
Also I could see this have
levels of bug squashing needed. Cool thought though.
The bugs would be insane I'd imagine
I'm pretty sure Riot mentioned the idea before and said they just couldn't find a way it would work, maybe one day.

A Blitzcrank grab that only works on allies could be funny.
Uh oh ...
Hopefully Ashe isn't involved.
gotta get dat ashe
A Blitzcrank grab that only works on allies could be funny.
Like a ranged tahm kench?
Nah

Thresh is completely crippled by the fact that no one clicks the lantern. An ability that grabs allies would force their compliance >:)
Tahm can grab minions and monsters with Q+W, maybe that should work on allied champions too.
That would probably be a little over powered, and would just become more toxic.
here are other skills that arent yet in the game:
a skill that bounce off terrain (not interact with it like codemm or hookshot a skillshot that bounce off gaining aditional effects) a skills able to copy an enemy skill (either make it so the window is very short and or some skills arent affected to get copy) more skillshots with circular trayectory like diana's Q traps that attach to terrain (basically if you walk infront of it, it trigger not if you step on it)
Now put it all in one champion!
Along with a 3 hit passive and % health true damage?
Nah, i want more Bard like champs
Sounds like the type of ability malzahar would have if he was made today and didn't have a determined theme already
Wait... so like, select a surface to put a portal on -> channel for a few seconds and all allied skillshots that hit you during the duration will come out of the portal?

Ashe arrow through one of those
"Skillshots"
lux ult goes through portal ~blasts diagonally across lane, hits wall on the other side*
jinx ult goes through portal bug makes ult invisible, then nukes someone who didn't see it coming
ashe ult goes through portal stun is amplified 20 times after going through
Hmm. Something's not right.
What if those asking for a new support champion and those that don't want to play support...
Aren't the same people?
Ummm I don't get the joke.
Because I main support.
is a support. You may not like or prefer it, but it is the truth.
Well, it's really just a problem with terminology. Ievrn is definitely an "enchanter," which used to be called "true supports." But he isn't a support in a sense that he's not very effective as a 0 CS bot laner.
Ivern is has the support role, but his position is not support(bot lane) its jungle.
The term "support" doesn't exist in the new subclass system anymore. When it comes to subclasses, Ivern is an enchanter (like 5000IamtoolazytocounttheO's already mentioned).
Calling the class of these champions support is just a relic from the times before. There is the position support, but no subclass support anymore.
until they remove the tags in the client, it will still exist (it will very likely happen at some point, just hasn't yet)
5,000,000,000,000,000 it is pretty easy to remember his because it is 5 sets of 000 following the 5
Ivern's main role is serial killer.
And ori is considered a supp mid laner but you know damn well that's not what they're talking about. They are talking about the position not the playstyle. "You may not like or prefer it, but it is the truth." < Added for pretentious effect.
You think you do, but you dont
I hope the next support is a hot man. :)
Almighty.
uhhmmmm
Taric is my baby, but, what about a supportive husband who is not exactly a tank?
I'm thinking more towards the
playstyle.

If you consider Brand a support please never contact me in any way possible.
Almighty.
He's a support. He's not a support I'd ever play. He's a support though
What are you talking about, We already got a new support.
Dat guy.

They need to figure out how to balance the ADC role before they go making more marksmen. Besides, Ivern plays in the jungle, not the bot lane.
I thought we were talking about supports as a support playstyle, not the lane they're in. Kindred was from release reffered to as a "jungle adc" and she's not played in bot what so ever, and Ivern definitely has a support playstyle, no matter if jungle or lane. And i feel like they have to balance items more than champions themselves tbh, btw they released camille and kled while the tank meta is still ongoing, so i don't think riot has a problem releasing an adc once per year, might actually even be beneficial to balancing if they do it right, since the reason different adc's are good at one given time is because there's not enough good adc's, they buff one stat and suddenly champions that were considered trash are dominating, it's not the champions it's the items.
To be fair, there are many fewer champions in the ADC position than there are in the support position. I would also say that although closer to a support in-combat, he's very obviously more like a jungler out of combat. Anyways, I think that the ADC role in general is unbelievably hard to balance, so they should focus on balancing the game before any new champions, as a new marksman could very easily be completely broken or trash-tier.
ivern is a jungler, and honestly in terms of fun factor, ivern shouldn't even be considered a new champ, neither jungle or support mains really enjoy playing him that much. and while you do have the "we got jhin a year ago" well jhin is a fucking blast to play and a really fun champ they made, honestly i'd like rito's champs this year to be just, anything but fucking mages and top laners, cus really 2 top laners 1 adc and 2 mid laners in a year and then they give junglers/supports ivern, :l people just want another utility/tank support or a fun jungler that isnt a rework
I do get what you mean, Ivern as a support is a half-assed unoriginal idea, the only thing going for him is his passive in terms of "new", which has nothing to do with support obviously, but atleast you got something in the past months, it doesn't matter how fun jhin is or isn't, you have to factor in a lot of things. I personally think that toplaners should get the least attention this year in terms of champion releases, they already got a shit ton of champs new and old, + the tank dilemma and all.. I feel like 2 adc's and 2 supports should be on the list in 2017, since there's a lot of unexplored ideas within these roles and it could finally shake up the meta a bit, instead of 20 more tanks with cc and dmg in jungle or top.[zombie-nunu-bummed]
Inb4 invisibility support?
