Wasure: The Unknown Legend Pronounced: (Wah-soo-ray) A nearly mythical figure who everyone knows, but no one knows anything about. His kit focuses on being exceptionally mobile & slippery.

Intention Wasure was intended to have a ninja-like vibe. This usually communicates assassin at first thought (which is why I will clarify) - his kit was intended to work as a zone control/teamfight bruiser. His kit would allow him to work OK in mid lane as an assassin, but top lane bruiser is his real niche.

Lore: Lauren ran as fast as his thick legs could carry him to the nearby tavern. He had seen Wasure! People were sure to notice him after a story like this. No one had ever seen more than a glimpse of Wasure since his first fight in Piltover, how many years had it been since then?

He paused to breathe and count on his fingers…

It didn’t matter. He had seen him in action, had seen his face even. People – girls hopefully – would flock to him just to hear the story, he was sure of it. The way he fought that gang in the alley… Lauren had never seen anything like it. Once he even jumped off the back of a thug, and disappeared in the air with a puff of smoke – appearing a second later with a knife in the back of another one. A whole gang killed by just one guy with a knife…

He frowned as he wondered why Caitlin and the rest of Piltover’s police force weren’t hunting Wasure. Vigilantes weren’t considered any better than criminals… come to think of it – was Wasure a criminal? Lauren had no idea who the men were that he had killed, but they looked mean.

He decided they were criminals. The girls like a good crime fighting story. He smiled in mirth and anticipation as he neared the Tavern doors. How many free drinks he would get after this story! He burst dramatically through the doors.

“I saw Wasure fighting in an alley down town!”

Gratifying excitement lit up the faces of several waitresses and patrons. The din of tavern banter became riddled with themed exclamations like “You saw him!?” and “Wasure is actually real?”

Lauren beamed and prepared his memorized recounting of his experience. “It was the most incredible thing I ever saw!” he began, his eyes on a particularly alluring waitress.

“It was in an alley, and there was all this purplish smoke, and… he had a hood…”

His brow furrowed in confusion.

“His face was… He was…”

He couldn’t remember anything… Suddenly he became aware of the skeptical looks and condescending laughter that had begun blossoming in the crowd. The longer he paused the more foolish he felt – so, thinking as fast as his dumbfounded brain would allow, he drew a deep breath and threw his arm around the waitress he had been eyeballing.

“I’ll tell you what I saw,” he began, and proceeded to spin a predictably epic tale of heroism and combat. All he could remember was purple smoke and a hood, so he worked that into the story several times for good measure. Maybe he would get a drink or two from this after all.

After a few minutes of listening to him blather on, Caitlin deftly removed the man’s arm from her waist and left for the back room to change out of the ridiculous waitress clothes. Undercover work wasn't her favorite and with this Wasure character, It was always the same. Groups of criminals would turn up dead somewhere with a knife wound in their backs, and any eyewitnesses would spill some stupid made up story about purple smoke and a guy in a hood. Even respectable people would say that’s all they could remember.

She hated to admit it, but she wasn’t entirely responsible for the low crime rate in Piltover. A few times, crime rings had been murdered by this purple smoke bastard before Caitlin was even aware they were operating.

In her Sheriff’s garb now, she primed and shouldered her rifle before leaving through the back entrance. Vi was waiting there, and from Caitlin’s expression, she didn’t need to ask how it went. It didn’t matter.

They always got their guy. It was just a matter of time and patience.

As if to emphasize her thoughts, Vi punched her Gauntleted fists together with a determined thud. Patience…. Yeah…

This is not an isolated incident. Similar stories have arisen in every major city in Runeterra - from Piltover, to Noxus, to Demacia. Always with the purple smoke and hood, and the only real evidence of the occurrence being the aftermath. Thus the mark of a true ninja has become very recognizable in Runeterra, yet it’s hard to define. It seems that for one to become a true ninja, one must become an unknowable legend. A faceless force of nature. The very thing that becomes unmistakable or legendary, is the shroud of mystery in the wake of deeds.

Wasure has become just such a legend in Runeterra. His ghostly presence has become immediately recognizable by nearly everyone, yet when asked what they saw, people can seldom remember anything beyond his hooded visage, and the haze that seems to follow him and seethes as he moves.

We may never know the impact this ethereal figure has had on Runeterra, but one thing has become common knowledge (though it may be only a rumor): He plans to enter the League of Legends. His motivations remain as shrouded as his persona, but it is clear that upon his arrival - the League of Legends will never be the same.

[Passive] Fighting Shadows After taking damage from any source (excluding non-siege minions), Wasure goes ethereal for 1.5 seconds.

While ethereal, Wasure takes 30% less damage (this damage reduction includes the damage that triggered the effect). Any ethereal effect on Wasure causes his next auto attack to critically strike. If Wasure is already ethereal from another ability, his passive is not triggered by damage during that effect.

• Duration: 1.5 • Cooldown: 10 / 9 / 8 • Damage reduction: 30%

[Q] The Dance Lunge forward a short distance, latch onto an enemy’s back, and reactivate to vault off again.

Active: After a gradual channeling period, Wasure lunges forward in the direction of your cursor (distance of lunge is based on channel time). If he collides with an enemy champion, he thrusts his dagger into their back and holds onto them for 1 second dealing physical damage. During that one second, the enemy is slowed, and Wasure cannot be hit by the affected champion’s auto attacks (his hitbox also moves as the champion moves –to stay on their back).

Reactivate: At any time during the 1 second duration, Wasure may choose to vault off of the affected champion in the opposite direction they are facing. If he activates the vault, he becomes invisible and ethereal for one second.

If he remains on their back and does not vault off at any time during the duration, enemies take additional bleed damage over 5 seconds.

During the initial channel, purple smoke begins to curl off Wasure, showing enemies of his intention.

During the duration of Wasure’s Ultimate, this ability has no mana cost.

• Slow: 10 / 12 / 15 / 17 / 20% • Channel duration: 2 • Invisibility/ethereal duration: 1 • Dash Damage: 75 / 115 / 155 / 195 / 235 (+ 100% Bonus AD) • Bleed Damage: 1.7 / 3.3 / 5 / 6.7 / 8.3 (+ 20% bonus AD) per second for 5 seconds • Dash Range: 350 - 600 • Vault Range: 450 • Mana Cost: 25 • Cooldown: 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 / 9

[W] Ethereal Presence Ability damage absorbing shroud ability.

Active: For 2 seconds after activating this ability - if Wasure is hit by an ability, the damage is ignored, he becomes invisible and ethereal for a short time, and a shroud is placed in a small radius where Wasure was standing.

Wasure is ethereal while inside the shroud. The shroud lasts for 2 seconds. Enemies cannot see Wasure if he is inside the shroud, unless they also enter the shroud. If they enter the shroud, they cannot see out.

• Shield Duration: 2 • Invisibility/ethereal Duration: 1 / 1.2 / 1.3 / 1.4 / 1.5 • Shroud Radius: 350 • Shroud Duration: 3.5 • Mana Cost: 50 • Cooldown: 20 / 18 / 17 / 16 / 15

[E] Distraction Small directed AOE stun.

Active: Small radius, targeted AOE ‘taunt’ – after a short delay, enemy players within the radius take magic damage and are stunned for a short time. During the stun, enemy players are forced to face the center of the AOE.

• Cast delay: .5 • Damage: 70 / 120 / 170 / 220 / 270 (+ 60% AP) • AOE Radius: 350 • Stun Duration: .5 / .6 / .7 / .9 / 1 • Mana Cost: 40 • Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8

**[R] “Subtlety” ** High damage, high mobility, teamfight ability.

Passive: Your move speed is doubled during any ethereal effect.

  • Choose 3 enemy champions to mark (much like Kindred’s passive). Marking an enemy takes one second before it becomes active. There is no cooldown for changing marks.

Active: When activated, the cooldown of Q is reset, and for the next 10 seconds, vaulting off of a marked enemy with Q causes Wasure to vault onto another marked enemy within a small/medium area (with the jump favoring the direction of your cursor). When vaulting onto another champion, the cooldown of Q is reset.

During his ult duration, any champion Wasure jumps onto - but does NOT vault off of - is dealt heavy additional damage, and this concludes the duration of his ult. If the ult duration is ended this way, Wasure becomes ethereal for an additional 1.5 seconds.

During his ult duration, if Wasure initially lunges (with Q) onto an enemy who is not marked, his ult duration ends, and its cooldown is halved.

• Active duration: 10 • Vault strike damage: 75 / 115 / 155 / 195 / 235 (+ 100% Bonus AD) (See Q damage) • Vault strike range: 650 • Non-vault, ult final damage: 250 / 400 / 550 (+ 120% bonus AD) • Mana Cost: 100 • Cooldown: 120 / 100 / 80

Stats • Health: 573 (+80) • Health: Regen: 6.0 (+0.5) • Mana: 330 (+40) • Mana: Regen: 7.6 (+0.85) • Attack: Melee - range 125 • Attack: Damage: 55 (+3.50) • Attack: Speed: 0.668 (+1.25%) • Armor: 27 (+2.70) • Magic resistance: 30 (+1.50) • Movement speed: 350

Profile • Attack: 8 • Defense: 6 • Ability power: 1 • Difficulty: 10

Meta: AD top or mid lane, bruiser/assassin.

Suggested items: item 3142 item 3074 item 1321 item 3156 item 3102 item 3071

Gameplay: Wasure is a somewhat high risk/reward champion. His offensive abilities bring him up close and personal with enemies, and if all goes according to plan, his mechanics also allow for some good escape possibilities.

In Top Lane: The damage reduction from Wasure’s ethereal effect makes a somewhat tanky build the most appropriate in the top lane. His trades would typically be a dash forward with his Q to latch onto an enemy, then an E to turn the enemy in a favorable direction before vaulting to safety. Since his Q is a skillshot, that when missed might put him out of position, his W would become very valuable for helping him escape that danger.

In Mid Lane: Fighting against a typically more squishy mid laner would make Wasure’s best build lean towards that of an assassin. His damage absorption would help him to win trades and his Q/ult/Q/crit combo would burst down most champions to near death. The drawback of this is that while he is latched onto an enemy for 2 seconds during that combo, he is very vulnerable to AOE attacks. Using his W shroud ability while latched onto an enemy would tilt things back into his favor in that scenario.

Teamfights: Wasure’s ult could be used in 2 ways – to split up clustered enemies and force them into poor positioning (they have to move apart so he doesn’t have another enemy to vault onto), or he could use the vaults to carry him past the enemy frontline into the vulnerable carries. If using his ult leaves him exposed and vulnerable in the middle of the enemy team, his shroud ability can be used to get him to safety and to create a small area of zone control.

As an assassin main and assassin is the role I pick in every game. I absolutely love how you did the kit and I'm sad I wont be able to play it.

I love everything about it.

  • The ability to enter stealth often.
  • The ability to actually team fight in team fights as an assassin vs other kits that can't do that.
  • A way to balance being able to negate damage without breaking the game or requiring situations out of your control.
  • An actual assassin kit that allows the player to dictate the fight.
  • The shadowy assassin visuals would be really awesome if done right and with the right sound effects.

The only thing I would change about the kit is the "Distraction". I would prefer it to be a flash bang style instead with similar results. The idea of distraction is a nice concept but when put into the game feels dull.(For example, Loki from Smite, very dull and boring).

I also think it would be easier to balance this by putting him in the jungle not a lane.

Another ninja to complete the ninja team?

The thematic represented in the gameplay has too much overlap with literally all the ninjas. It's like you combined all their stuff together and called it a day. You've got Akali jumps and shroud, Shen taunts, Zed-level mobility...

Anyways, while I can understand the theme behind this guy is "don't ever get hit, ever", the way you're going about it is nothing short of frustrating - partly because of the numbers on the Q. 600 range means 6 Teemos' length. For context, that takes you about 2 seconds to cross without any boots. Your Q is not "a short distance", but rather one of the longest dashes that also has a damage component that renders you AA proof to that target because marksmen shouldn't be allowed to play the game.

Also, you disengage at 600 range after jumping on someone with your Q. That's literally out of range for almost everyone. A direct hit means free harass.

The W is straight-up better than the currently-existing spellshields by combining Pantheon's passive with Akali's shroud. Holy cow. There's no real way to fix it, this is just ludicrously good at what it's supposed to do. It doesn't last long enough to justify a pink ward, but long enough to effectively and easily juke and stall melee attackers.

The delay on the E is not nearly enough time to avoid the attack. 350 radius = 3.5 Teemos = 1 second at 350 speed to avoid = not enough time units. This then sets up the Q, which lets you vault off the target afterwards...

The ult's cooldown nonsense could be cut without losing anything of value. The ult itself exacerbates all the problems with the Q - you're jumping around too much to actually take damage while setting yourself up to be incredibly hard to hit, all while having high-powered burst damage.

The core concept is neat. The actual kit is more frustrating to fight than the demonspawn of Yasuo, Zed, and Akali, with amazing amounts of survivability for an assassin while still maintaining the high damage output. That's...not ideal.

Lore - Putting the over used faceless ninja with unmatched power aside, I absolutely loved the lore. It has a beautiful combination of remarkably amusing comedy, and a good character building with what little was said, with great pacing that always gave me something new and interesting for me to read. You definitely have a skill for story telling, and I can't wait for more.

Passive - I am really not fond of this passive. From the way you describe Wasure, and the the look of his character, it seems too easy to pull off, as it requires no skill to use, and this overall clashes with his personality. I would have much preferred for this to be an active spell that is a lot harder to use, and gives him more moment to moment gameplay, which the passive is severely lacking. My favourite play style is the as you see gameplay, that keeps people on their toes, and doesn't let them sit back in their chair, and just take less damage with no skill required, which is also not rewarding and could very easily become boring. This spell, as well as not being fun to use, will be less fun to play against, as there is no counterplay to stop you from getting this powerful passive. This would infuriate players, and would also be very hard to balance.

Q - I am rather fond of this spell, as it puts you up close and personal with your target, and is strongest in 1v1 scenarios. It would still be very annoying to play against in a 1v1 situation, and after reviewing this ability, it doesn't have much counterplay either. Although you can be attacked by other enemy champions when you are latched onto one in a teamfight; Which does inherently weaken the ability, there is no way to get you off. I would recommend that if Wasure got CC'd, he would instantly just drop to the ground, unable to use the second active. This would punish the player for being greedy and attempting to get the extra bleed damage, and not looking out for possible CC. He still wouldn't be targetable by the champion he is latched onto, but if he was able to be effected by non targetable CC, (e.g Thresh flay), then the player would need to pick their target more wisely, and not jump on a heavy CC champion, and instantly get locked down.

W - This is basically a more powerful version of what I was talking about in your passive, and would reduce the time after activation that he could place down a shroud, to keep up the fast action gameplay that would best fit with his character. I like the idea, but it allows him to easily get away from ADC's, and makes him even more slippery.

E - I'm not sure what I think about this ability, other than it is themetic and seems fun to use. It has a massive delay before activating which is nice because it gives it some counterplay, but it seems really clunky to use with that long of a delay.

R - This is the cherry on the OP cake. The innate strength comes from how ludicrous his Q is, but the marking does make it more balanced, meaning that if a certain situation arises were you have to jump to an untargeted enemy then it punished you.

Overall, Wasure has really anti fun abilities, for both the player, and the person playing against him. He needs a lot of changed to make him more balanced, and improve the experience from either end.

I feel like his ult is a bit underwhelming considering the rest of his kit is so overpowered, defensive/kiting wise.

Review:

  1. Cool story. A little too long for not native english speaker like me. Got to translate many things with google translate.
  2. Passive is confusing for me. If any damage can trigger, does that include minions? Why would champion need that, because minion can trigger it and it will go on cooldown. Smart enemy would then attack you, because you would lose passive against minion damage and chance to one or two critical hits. Also, every attack becoming critical might be a problem to balance. Yasuo can crit a lot, so his crit damage is reduced. Maybe your champion should also do reduced critical damage?
  3. Q sounds cool and gives options to chose what to do, lets you to make important choices. It would be fun ability while ganking, but i am worried that it could be used very harshly against you. If enemy flash to turret or back into his team while you are on his back. If enemy moves at the last moment and you vault into his turret. Many different bad things might happen.
  4. W is cool. Like Akali's and Grave's abilities combined into something new. But i have a question. Does it ignore all attack over 2 sec or just the first one?
  5. E is also cool. Not much i can say about it, because this is nice ability. Still, your other abilities deals AD damage and you kinda have to build only AD, so i don't get why this ability deals AP damage.
  6. R i don't understand. It looks like very dependent on Q. If you don't have Q or ranked up other abilities first, then R is very weak. Also, if you are ganking bot lane, then you could mark both enemies and jump non-stop from one enemy to another. That makes R either very strong and unfair, or very bad, because you forgot to rank up Q. Maybe it shouldn't depend so much Q or who you have marked.
