Baj'eroo - The Toxic Master [Champion Concept]

Baj’eroo – The Toxic Master

Baj’eroo is a shaman archer from a legendary tribe of Kumungu Jungle Natives. This tribe is famous for the potency of their poisons, and they have never shared their secrets. Baj’eroo has heard whisperings of a satanic yordle scout who calls himself the master of poisons, and so he has gone to the League of Legends to put an end to this rumor, and the culprit. Baj'eroo uses toxins to give enemies deadly hallucinations.

The fun part of this concept I think is that allies will not see or be affected by what the poisoned champion sees. His movements will make no sense (exactly as they would if someone was really hallucinating).

Quotes in game: "They be trippin." "Why so toxic?" "What do you see?" "Sinister laughter ...Are you scared?"

Passive: Poison Master Basic attacks apply a stack, which causes enemies to take damage over 7 seconds. Only enemies who have stacks of Poison Master active on them are affected by your W, E, and R abilities. The more stacks of your attack, the more intense the ability. Half of current stacks are consumed when you use W, E, or R. 6 stacks max.

Q: To the Source Baj'eroo throws a venomous creature in a skillshot. Enemies hit by the creature take magic damage, are blinded (their line of sight is significantly reduced) for 1/1.5/2/2.5 seconds and an extra affect is added to the next W, E, or R that Baj'eroo activates against them. This also adds a stack of Poison Master. Cooldown 10/9/8.5/8.

W: Let there be Chaos Poisoned enemies hallucinate multiple copies of each enemy champion within a large radius, running or attacking in random directions. The number of copies seen by poisoned enemies is equal to one, or half the number of stacks of Poison Master (whichever is higher). Hallucinations last for 1.5 second. Hallucinations do no damage, and dissipate if they are hit with an attack or ability. To the Source Bonus: The enemy hit by To the Source also hallucinates multiple allied champions, and Badj'eroo becomes invisible to that enemy for 2.5 seconds, or until he attacks or uses an ability.

E: Cerebral Cloud Baj'eroo places a stationary AOE cloud. The cloud lasts for 3.5 seconds. Poisoned enemies can see the cloud, and take heavy damage if they move within its radius. If they do not move, there is no effect. Enemies who are not poisoned cannot see that cloud, and it has no effect on them. Damage is increased for each stack of Poison Master. Crowd control effects that move enemies through the cloud apply the damage of movement. To the Source Bonus: Poisoned enemies who stay within the cloud for 2 seconds are slowed by 25% for 3 seconds when the cloud expires.

R: Panic Baj'eroo shoots a special poison dart in a skillshot. When poisoned, the enemy takes gradually increasing damage over time that continues until they leave Baj'eroo's presence (they must escape a radius AOE around Baj'eroo). If Baj'eroo is killed, this effect ends after 3 seconds. To the Source Bonus: Baj'eroo's movement speed is increased by 25% for Panic's duration when moving towards the poisoned enemy.

While the concept has some pretty wacky and fun (for the user) effects, it also bears a glaring problem: It breaches the Clarity of the game to an tremendous degree.

Clarity is one of LoL's pillars of game design, and thus one of the last things that should be sacrificed when designing a champion.

{quoted} Passive: Poison Master Enemies who have been hit by your basic attacks take damage over 7 seconds. Interesting. I'll be honest I'd like something a little more creative that a DoT on basic attacks, but at the same time there's nothing inherently wrong with it. I don't really have something I can suggest to replace it with, but something more related to his kit would be cool (yes I know it provides stacks for the other abilities but still).

Q: To the Source Baj'eroo throws a venomous creature in a skillshot. Enemies hit by the creature take magic damage, are slowed by 15% and have an extra affect added to the next W, E, or R that Baj'eroo activates. This also adds a stack of Poison Master. Cooldown 8/6/5.

Again this is ok, but already within the first 2 parts of his kit you have a 'provides additional X'. I recognize the importance this has with the slow and the stack, but it still seems somewhat lack luster.

W: Let there be Chaos Poisoned enemies hallucinate multiple copies of each enemy champion within a large radius, running or attacking in random directions. The number of copies seen by poisoned enemies is equal to one, or half the number of stacks of Poison Master (whichever is higher). Hallucinations last for 4 seconds. To the Source Bonus: The enemy hit by To the Source also hallucinate multiple allied champions, and Badj'eroo becomes invisible to that enemy for the duration, or until he attacks or uses an ability.

This is cool. I really like the idea behind this ability. I would clarify though that you need at least 2 stacks for at least 1 clone to appear. I would also strongly suggest you reduce the duration of the invisibility, as a potential 4 second escape time is REALLY high.

E: Cerebral Cloud Baj'eroo places a directed AOE cloud. To the Source Bonus: Enemies who stay within the cloud for 2 seconds are feared for 2 seconds.

Again this is interesting. I like the idea of being able to move a stealth related and then suddenly springing it on your enemy with a basic attack. You would have to add some sort of indicator to this ability though (like part of him glowing or something), so that the enemy has at least some indication that the ability is in use. I would like to know the radius and the movement speed of this cloud though, as being able to run out of this should be an option as well. The fear also feels a bit weak. I get how it fits thematically, but I feel like the Fear could work on the Q and the slow could apply to the cloud, that way if the enemy DOES opt to run out of the cloud, they are slower in doing so, hence take more damage.

R: Panic Baj'eroo shoots a special poison dart in a skillshot. When poisoned, the enemy has 6/5/4 seconds to lose enemy line of sight for 1.5 seconds, or take massive damage. Line of sight includes wards, allies, or anything that gives visibility. Damage increases for each stack of Poison Master. To the Source Bonus: Movement speed is increased by 25% for Panic's duration.

This is also interesting, but has a very wide and easy counterplay for almost any mage. Within the last second or two, the enemy can simply Zhonya's. This is also pretty easy to counter during laning phase, as the opposing champ simply needs to run back under their tower. Unless you REALLY ward ahead of time, or you tower dive, most mid or top laners will be able to get away especially given the 6 seconds they have. Note: I did not say ALL, I said most.

All in all this is a pretty good first concept, and the foundations are there for an interesting champ concept. With a few more developments and drafts, I could see this turning into a really cool concept.

Also, on a personal note, please refrain from insulting or mocking people. You don't need to take their critiques on board, but if they're being polite and rational, don't say things like "Your arguments aren't thought out well enough to support the use of such big words. You just come off as a pretentious chap who wants to sound smart." He didn't call your idea "crap", he said that it lacked visual clarity. This is a GOOD critique.
