[Champion Concept] Kira - the Honor-Bound Samurai

Dayvigilante·6/9/2015, 1:16:15 AM·2 votes·2,877 views

Role: Fighter, Tank, Support

Inspiration: Wanting to expand the Ionian universe with a samurai-like champion that embodies a different side of the samurai motif (different from Master Yi in a lot of ways.)

General Design Philosophy: Kira is a champion built around reacting and countering the opponent's moves. Kira has the ability to counter anything her enemies can throw at her, and relies on capitalizing on their mistakes to quickly strike them down. Although Kira's passive gives her lots of mobility, none of that mobility can be directly activated by Kira, so Kira has to rely on her counters to move. In other words, while Kira is very mobile in a teamfight, her chasing potential is minimal.

Balance: There's a low chance of Kira being Overpowered. Considering her kit is loaded with counterplay, the fact that Kira has minimal CC, and the fact that extremely mobile champions like Riven, Yasuo and Ekko have a place in league.

Appearance: A lean woman warrior dressed in traditional Samurai armor. The armor is bright white and has a small insignia on the left shoulder. She has a stocky black belt that holds two katanas. She has a very serious and stately demeanor. Lore: One day, Kira showed up at the league of legends, insisting that she take part in the battles. Although she was brought in for lengthy questioning she refused to give any information about her origins other than she was under orders from a myserious "master". Nevertheless, she fights with as much unending devotion to her cause as any other combatant. Although her mannerisms are polite and courteous, when you look into her eyes for the first time, you can almost be sure that something is amiss.

Strengths: Able to ignore spells and Auto-attacks. Excels at protecting and peeling for a single target.

Weaknesses: Bad wave-clear. Minimal CC and can be countered by smart play.

Plays most like...: Braum Nautilus Nocturne

Auto Attack: One of three: Open palm strike from right hand, kick, or extending her weapon's hilt to bludgeon.

Passive - Strike Down - http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/9/icons_8202_btn.jpg Kira's abilities will mark targets. Autoattacking a marked target will have Kira dash to the target and slice them with her katana, stunning them for 0.5 seconds and dealing 40/80/120 (+100%AD) bonus physical damage plus bonus magic damage based on 30%/40%/50% of the damage she's taken within 6 seconds since her last Strike Down. After Kira breaks a mark of Strike down, it cannot be reapplied on the same target for 2 seconds. Range: 1200 Note - Numbers shown refer to levels 6/11/16.

Q - Honorguard - http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/17/icons_16615_btn.jpg Kira swears an oath to protect target ally for 4/5/6/7/8 seconds. When the target takes damage, Kira will dash to them and take 30/35/40/45/50% of the damage that the marked ally would have taken. This damage also counts as being directed at Kira for the purpose of Kira's abilities. Note - Kira will continue to protect against damage-over-time effects if she is in close (600) proximity to the target, but will only dash to the ally after the first tick of damage. Energy Cost: 120 Cooldown: 18/21/24/27/30 Cast Range: 600 Leap Range: 1200

W - Parry Stance - http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/9/icons_8949_btn.jpg Kira channels for 4/5/6/7/8 seconds. If an enemy basic attacks Kira while she's channeling, it will be avoided, and the enemy will be marked by Strike Down for 6 seconds. Auto-attacking will break Kira's channel and Kira's movement speed is reduced by 50% during the channel. However, using Strike down, Honorguard or Zanketsu will not break the channel. Energy Cost: 60/50/40/30/20 Cooldown: 20

E - Zanketsu - http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/11/icons_10777_btn.jpg Kira prepares for an incoming ability for 2 seconds. If an ability hits Kira within that time, the ability will be blocked, the user of the ability will be marked by Strike Down for 6 seconds, and Kira will gain 40/45/50/55/60 additional Armor and Magic Resist for 6 seconds. Energy Cost: 80/80/70/70/60 Cooldown: 20

R - Bushido - http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/10/icons_9094_btn.jpg Kira draws her second blade and challenges nearby opponents. Kira gains 100% Attack speed, 35% Tenacity, any enemies with their back to Kira will be marked with Strike Down, and Strike Down's stun duration is increased to 1 second. These effects persist for 8/9/10 seconds. Energy Cost: No cost Cooldown: 110/100/90

Champion Select - "Let honor guide my sword" Moving No movement quotes Attacking "I will fell them." "In my master's name." "You have been chosen" "Your death with be an honorable one." Taunt - Beckoning the opponent while standing upright. "Come and face me" "Meet your fate" Joke No joke quotes Dance - Traditional ~~japanese ~~ Ionian dance. Laugh - Says a brief "Hmph." (Like Darius).

A female samurai should be using a Naginata. If it's going to be a sword user, I would rather just see a Bloodmoon Diana.

Definitely one of the best and most original concepts on these boards. Only criticism is that the passive CD should probably be more like 6 seconds, because right now you're looking at a stun every 1.5 seconds, or a permastun with ult. Otherwise great work

Thanks for the feedback. The passive is intended to constantly stun those that are attacking Kira. This is one of her strengths, with the caveat that kira can't apply the mark herself. I did reduce the ult stun duration to 1s instead of 1.5s for balance purposes though
