http://i.imgur.com/reBOAXm.jpg (Image credit to scebiqu.deviantart.com) Ferina is a champion that lives and thrives in the jungle. How you navigate and clear the jungle changes how Ferina plays, and what her gank patterns are. Ferina makes an excellent counterjungler and objective focused dueler, but her real key strength is versatility through management of jungle camps.

Categories: Jungler, Marksman

Auto-attack: Shoots a barbed bolt from her crossbow. Range: 500

Abilities Passive: Hunter's Intuition Ferina's keen senses alert her to any trespassers. If any enemies are in the same quadrant of the jungle as Ferina, a mark will appear over Ferina's head. This ability does not function in any lane, base, or the river.

Q: Intermediary Ferina subtly uses her magic to disrupt her opponents. Ferina chooses a target, that target deals 10%/15%/20%/25%/30% reduced damage for 4 seconds. Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Range: 600 Mana Cost: 40 Intermediary is the default ability, but Ferina's Q will change after she smites a monster (depending on the monster smited), and will change back to Intermediary if she smites a minion. Q: Ferocious Bite After smiting Greater Murk Wolf or Crimson Raptor Ferina lunges forward towards an enemy, savagely biting them; dealing 60/80/100/120/140(+40%AD damage). If the target was an enemy champion, they take an additional 40/45/50/55/60(+20%AD) damage for each nearby (850) jungle monster (epic monsters count as three). Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Range: 600 Mana Cost: 60 Q: Bramblethorn After smiting Red Brambleback Ferina lays down a patch of thorns in a small AoE at target location. Enemies that stand in the thorns are slowed by 20/25/30/35/40% and take 20/30/40/50/60(+20%AD) physical damage per second. The thorns last 60 seconds before withering. Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Range: 200 Mana Cost: 40 Q: Scavenger After smiting Gromp or Ancient Krug Passive: Ferina scavenges the carasses of slain jungle monsters, healing herself for 40/50/60/70/80 (+10% missing health) health after she kills a monster in the jungle. Active: Ferina gains 20/25/30/35/40% Attack Speed plus 1% for each 1% of Ferina's missing health. This bonus lasts for 4 seonds. Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Mana Cost: 40 Q: Entangle After smiting Blue Sentinel Ferina causes a disturbance at target area. After a short delay, all enemies in a radius around Ferina's cursor will take 100/125/150/175/200 (+60%AP) magic damage and will become slowed by 60% for 2 seconds. If the target is in the jungle, they will be rooted for 2 seconds instead. Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Mana Cost: 60 Range: 850 Radius: 150

W: Glade Warrior Passive: When Ferina is in a bush, she gains 20/30/40/50/60 Attack damage. Active: Ferina carefully takes aim, charging up an arrow. While Ferina is charging, she roots herself. The arrow deals 40/50/60/70/80 (+40% AD) to 100/125/150/175/200(+80%AD) damage and charges in 4 seconds (halved in a bush.) The arrow flies in a straight line, dealing damage to the first target it hits. If the arrow is charged at least half-way, the target will be marked, and the ability can be reactivated to blink to the target. Cooldown: 20 Range: 800/850/900/950/1000 Mana Cost: 100

E: Sleep Arrow Ferina fires an arrow from her bow laced with faerie magic. The arrow fires in a thin linear skillshot, hitting the first target in its path. The target takes 50/55/60/65/70(+60%AP) magic damage and is increasingly slowed over 2.5 seconds, starting at 20% and ending at 80%. After this time, the target will be stunned for an additional 2.5 seconds. However, if they take damage from any source, except damage over time effects like Red Buff, Swain's Torment and Teemo and Cassiopeia's posions, the stun will immidiately end. Cooldown: 20 Range: 850 Mana Cost: 60

R: Woodland Stride Passive: While out of combat and in the jungle, Ferina gains stacks of stride. She gains 10 stacks of stride per second, capping at 50/75/100. For each stack, Ferina gains 1% movement speed. Ferina loses all stacks upon taking damage or dealing damage. Active: Ferina attunes herself to the forest, allowing her to pass through walls for 2.5 seconds. If she is in the jungle, she also enters Stealth during this time. *If this ability ends while Ferina is in a wall, she is shunted to the nearest possible location. Ferina's vision radius is severely limited while in a wall, and although enemies cannot see Ferina while she is in a wall, they can hit her with skillshots and ground target abilities. Cooldown: 80/65/50 Mana Cost: 50

Lore: If you ask Ferina where she came from, she would tell you that she couldn't remember a time when she wasn't in the forest. The first thing she could remember is scrambling amongst the leaves, foraging for food and climbing trees. She learned survival skills quite quickly, almost miraculously; when she was thirsty, she would stumble across a fresh spring, when she was threatened by hostile wildlife, a predator would swoop them away, almost as if the forest itself had nutured her. It was not until she was quite old that she found the Glade, a place that would be unsettling to most, but to Ferina it felt like home. Ferina found beauty in the strange magic all around her, and dedicated a part of her life to learning some of its mysterious innerworkings. Now she wanders the forests of runeterra, acting as the defender of the Glade and its contact to the outside world. Among her wanderings, she sometimes seaches for the clues of her origin, trying to discover the life that could have been.

Alright, so before I say anything properly, I want to highlight one crucial point; the Sleep Arrow. Sleep being a relative thing in a fast-paced combat scenario, this ability, giving an increased slow and - eventually, a short duration nap/stun - is Impeccably well-written. Especially with the condition of still working against DoT ticks. Her Hunter's Intuition is also really cool and really unique, in that it's a (possibly intended) play on the alert function of Rengar and Evelynn's stealth, but rather than revealing her or her opponents, it simply alerts you that they're in the immediate area and pose a threat. I also like how you managed to keep conditionals to a good minimum - there's of course the various Jungle Camp buffs to her Intermediary/Adaptation (I'll simply say it as Intermediary/Adaptation in the vain of some champions who have two abilities in one slot, even though it's five), and the DoT condition on Sleep Arrow. You also, in combat thematics and lore, managed to pull off a Fae Ranger-type character who could be seen as a trickstery AD counterpart to Lulu. There are of course some small tweaks that would be considered (namely flat percentages and rates), but they're trivial compared to the actual depth and clear-cut character that you brought to the table.

OK, couple things about this champ.

First, nice artwork.

Second, I think u may have overcomplicated the Q ability. while I think it would be cool to have 2 or 3 potential different ideas for it, the number of options u gave (wasn't it 5?) seems like a little overkill.

Third, I think her R ability should be something that actually does some damage. Maybe the movement aspect could be the R passive? I only say this because having a movement-based ult that only works in the jungle and is only optimized with teammates nearby (not to mention a specific direction, behind you) is very limited. Since her W and E are skillshot damage abilities, maybe her ult could be a targeted damage ability? Maybe jump to her target and use that war hammer I see in the picture to slow, stun, or knock back an enemy? Or use the hook on it to snare them? Just a thought.

Fourth, I do like that her W is improved while in bushes, because that is a very useful jungler aspect. I also appreciate that the E is a skillshot, because if it was a targeted (lock-on) ability it would be too OP.

Fifth, I LOVE her passive. I hate being in my jungle (or the enemy's ;)) and having this happen: "Yay Evelynn isn't here! Now I can get my- OH CRAP!"....."You have been slain".... I think it would be a very useful jungle tool, and I also like that it is negated in lanes and river so that its not OP.

All in all, I think this champ is great. My suggested alterations would basically make her my dream jungler, but she would still be fun the way you laid things out I think. I also am VERY impressed that you worked out all the damage bases AND scales AND percentages on your own.

Very nice work, and I hope to see Ferina The Glade Defender on the Rift soon.

So basically her ult is a worse version of Sivirs ultimate?..... I mean... give her something else, Not really anything special about it. (Make her kit useable outside of jungle is what I'm saying. You made her an insane farm champion who wont do anything outside jungle)

Her passive and E are absolutely amazing ideas. I love the concept of a sleep cc version of stun and her passive is just good enough. Her W is odd, passive feels kinda tacked on and the active just reminds me too much of a combo between Varus Q and Zenith blade. Something that could be used when in brush only would probably be much better. Her ultimate is fine but It just doesn't sit well. Perhaps, and this is a bit crazy. If she could restructure the jungle in some way, or something that synergizes works uniquely with her passive.

Maybe make her create brushes of her own temporarily. (Too crazy?)

XD Make her a yordle btw.

Thanks for all the positive and supportive feedback. I'll answer your queries in no particular order:

  • If the W feels extraneous, or tacked on, that because it partially is. I had trouble thinking of the "missing piece" of her kit. I settled for something that emphasized bushes and synergized with her Sleep Arrow. It is sufficient for now, but I might change it.
  • The parallels between Sivir's ultimate and this ultimate were clear before, but I think it might be too similar. I'm changing it thusly: R: Woodland Stride Passive: While out of combat, Ferina gains stacks of stride.
  • I think the amount of ability options for the Q is at a good spot with not being staggering. Early in the concept there was 7 abilities, but I decided to merge the Gromp/Krug and Raptor/Wolf abilities. The only issue is that the opponent's do not know what ability Ferina currently possesses, but that is not a big enough issue to have some sort of indicator at all times. Smart opponents can even keep track of Ferina's jungle movements and buffs (Wolf spirit) to get an educated guess on what ability she has at the moment.

This is an awesome champion idea but she doesn't look much like a champ inthe jg, but that's my opinion.
