[CCC] Updates and this month, get your concepts ready! (CCC coming on the 12th)

Sir ArmaMalum··7 votes·1,077 views

Hey all! Sorry for the wait, technical difficulties (404 errors) have been plaguing my posting here (concept sub-comm) for the last week and a half, so maybe if I keep it short it'll let me in finally? >_<

#SO....

As far as the CCC goes, this time for sure, only real change as far as entering is concerned is the start date. The CCC will be starting on the 2nd monday of the month. (That's the 12th this month, people!) There will be a few changes as far as how I'm organizing the whole deal, hopefully making the month more engaging and helpful to you all! For specifics, ask in a comment.

For those of you that are interested in helping I am now open for Janurary judges! So send an e-mail to '[email protected]' with your IGN. I'm also finagling some other ways to contribute than just judging so, if you're interested in that (as well?) feel free to ask in a comment below.

Also; thinking about changing up the name a bit to lessen confusion with the MCCC, ideas? I was thinking about something like Champion Concept Open Invitational [CCOI] or something like that...

Yes I am hosting the MCCC this month seen here: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/rB0U0mBo-january-2015-mccc-weapons-and-elements and am also looking for judges

^^ At least on my end, judges for the CCC are by no means restricted from judging for the MCCC as well! I'm excited to see what the MCCC holds for January :)

Hmm, actually Vbunnie you bring up an interesting subject. Are additional judges a usual need for MCCC hosts that you know of? I can make a mention for MCCC judge spots as well with posts like this.

Vbunnie's contest is at -3 after he made a fool out of himself in the previous MCCC thread. Beware.

First off I have never made a fool out of myself secondly I advise you to leave your negative attitude to yourself and if you dont stop with comments like this I will report you..... Following me with hateful comments is considered harrassment and I am not afraid to report

I'm not going to force anyone to judge for either contest, that's always up to the individual. I'm just trying to help out in terms of visibility every month. I know how difficult getting some extra hands can be sometimes. ^_^

Negatory.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, like I said if you want to know more ask away. And happy new years!

MrBuffington3 votes

So your contests are running separately from MCCC again?

Sir ArmaMalum3 votes

Yes, after deliberation and discussion with the MCCC folks I came to the conclusion that there was plenty of room for both as each contest addressed different audiences. So I'm moving back to the CCC being independent, but I'm moving the start date so we don't have to compete for post real estate on the first week, the CCC alone dominates the concept board during entry week and I wouldn't want to do that to the MCCC fellas.

MrBuffington1 votes

So you're sort of alternating biweekly entry sort of process? Sounds cool :)

Sir ArmaMalum1 votes

Well as far as the MCCC and CCC together goes yes. But both are going to be 1 time a month still, as usual. Hopefully the start time change goes as smoothly as I hope. XD

Embertine2 votes

Exactly what is this? I've never heard of the CCC before, and am at a loss for what exactly this is.

Sir ArmaMalum1 votes

Good question! This was more for any people who had participated in previous months as I've been changing some stuff around since the vBulletin (old forums) migration. So I understand and apologize for your confusion.

The CCC is the Community Concept Contest, it happens monthly and has a prize of an animated medal gif. One simply enters a champion concept and a judge panel of anonymous judges (other forum goers) scores your concept based on 5 catagories: Lore, Kit (Abilities), Effort, Originality, and the monthly Bonus category.

Here's an example of a previous month. and here's the results.

It's a completely community-made and organized monthly event meant for fun and letting anyone who made a champion concept an opportunity to show it off. It's not affiliated with Riot at all, and runs seperately from the MCCC (same kind of contest, but more a "build a concept to fit this" kind of system).

I sometimes go on a bit of rant, so if that didn't answer everything feel free to say :)

i have never made a fool of myself and yes it does seem more judges is better

Eh no worries I'm not concerned with any forum drama. I just want to help out where I can. ^_^

You have a cut-off time for additional judges for this month (a.k.a. if I make a more detailed and official post tomm will a mention there still be useful?)

Vbunnie1 votes

I understand yeah I simply stated if interested in judging just leave a comment however it has been in past mcccs that in order to qualify you must judge an entrant from a past mccc and that is like an application and shows whether or not you are qualified however I am against this and feel anyone can judge if they want to

Ok cool, I'll be sure to keep that in mind for future months. Good luck with the January MCCC!

Embertine1 votes

Yes it really does need to be less confusing with the MCCC. I thought that the MCCC was you and ended up posting my champion there lol! But I'll still submit her with this contest too.

Sir ArmaMalum1 votes

Understandable and sorry! Looking forward to it, and remember: as long as she was posted within the month of Janurary, you're good! ^_^

Embertine1 votes

Must be posted in janurary? O_O Dang! I posted her a month ago! XD I have however posted another concept not even a day ago so he can still make it in. Pretty bummed that I can't submit Lorana though, I've have some pretty good feedback for her.

Sir ArmaMalum1 votes

Yeah sorry, gotta draw a cut-off somewhere but hey this is a good way to get feedback on your newest fella XD

extra judges in mcccs are not needed however they do assist with the process as they help eliminate bias. Elph has been doing it for a while as have I however we dont always see eye to eye as my ideas are not the same as his. It does not mean either of us are wrong elph has his ways and I have mine. I see a need for extra judges Elph does not... I feel it is really a matter of opinion on the subject. Understand Some MCCCs have had them and they really do assist in speeding up the judging and eliminating bias by providing different views from judge to judge. As seen here.... http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4409579&highlight=mccc+april+2014 This was the april MCCC and one that I helped judge on... This is very different then the month following....http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4483046&highlight=may+mccc On this second thread it is apparent that the lack of different judges resulted in several very confused and dissapointed contestants. On this second mccc the information provided as for the reasons an entrant was given low scores were poor at best as the judge could only see one or two things and often bipassed certain mechanics entirely. They did not consider everything or see everything thus they should have probably had a second judge to help point out one aspect or another.

Elphrihaim1 votes

I am still adjusting to the fact that people call me Elph

Because Elph is Elphin the bard of FE6, and I am Eliwan.

But here I'm Elphrihaim so ajfdslka;hwpeoudsogpia;fwjedls.

{quoted} Elph has been doing it for a while as have I

I have assisted in judging exactly once, and that was because the contest host asked and I couldn't think of a concept. But I thiiink you meant the idea of going over other people's concepts and attempting to assist the creator improve their skills.

however we dont always see eye to eye as my ideas are not the same as his. It does not mean either of us are wrong elph has his ways and I have mine.

I would be disturbed if we had the same ideas and methodologies. Would you not? It'd be somewhat odd to meet an effective twin.

I see a need for extra judges Elph does not... I feel it is really a matter of opinion on the subject.

I think it's nice and unneeded-- but it is a matter of opinion and usually left to the host.

But a majority of contests only have the person* who set it up judging.

* However sometimes there is more than one person setting it up and thusly more than one judge.

It is true that it greatly reduces the amount of bias present, and that more judges improves that relationship as each one contributes less to the total scores.

Understand Some MCCCs have had them and they really do assist in speeding up the judging and eliminating bias.

I disagree, having multiple judges actually slows down judgment since you have to wait for everybody to finish before you can declare a winner, instead of just one.

On an unrelated note, I thought you said you were going to stop responding (though you probably missed it when you said what you said and upon seeing it retracted your vow because breaking the vow once to answer a question seemed like a good idea at the time).

On a second unrelated note, I think so much better when bouncing off of somebody it is becoming quite stupid. Before I just said 'no', now I have points that have substance :V

Hey! Thanks for this ArmaMalum! I'll definitely be in this one. Gonna put one of my concepts to use finally (she's been on the backburner for almost five months now).
