[CCOS] Looking for March judges!
Hey guys! February results are almost ready to go, but in the meantime I need to already start on finding judges for next month's contest. No rest for the wicked!
#Who can judge?
Anyway, a judge for the CCOS is nothing fancy, all you need is a healthy interest in champion concepts, a willingness to help out your fellow player and most importantly time.
So really, anyone can judge, and I encourage new judges to give it a shot. Worst case scenario you don't get around to all of the entries and I can't use your scores, but I go for excess judges for this very reason. I always strive for at least 3 judges to have scores out for each contest and I usually have 5-6 judges to start each month, if anyone here has been in a contest before you can see not many make it all the way. A lot run into IRL issues and other higher priorities, which is perfectly fine. A lot can happen in a month!
#What do judges have to do?
Expectations and requirements for a judge can be found here.
An average CCOS month rakes in anywhere from 20-30 concepts, each usually around a one to two thousand words (2-3 pages not including pictures). Reading through these and scoring them takes around 30 min per concept if you're quick (That's ~12.5 hours of judging over 2 weeks btw). These aren't set by any formula either, it's simply your individual opinion, although it really helps to explain your reasoning! The current system is very easy to approach and flexible, and I will work with you to get you scores in in anyway you prefer. I have Google Drive spreadsheets for your convenience but those are not required to use.
#What's in it for me?
A warm and fuzzy feeling for helping out your fellow player?
Nah, but seriously you do get something. Judging is the only garunteed way of making onto the CCOS official archive and Hall of Fame (still pending, sorry guys!). Now this is finishing judging in a month, drop-outs don't get in. You get your name next to the winners of each month, and if you're very thorough and consistent in your judging I may have a few more opportunities for you later!
#Applying and Deadlines
If you're interested in judging for March (or any month really) e-mail me at '[email protected]' with your IGN (in-game username). I'll confirm you've understood what's in store and answer any questions you have! Questions can also be directed here in comments.
I repeat e-mail me do not request to be a judge in the comments here. CCOS judges are anonymous for the month they are judging and commenting you're interest kind of defeats the purpose :P.
March CCOS entries begin on March 9th, judging starts March 16th. You have until noon EST on March 16th to ask to be a judge, otherwise it's too liottle too late!
Here's to seeing your e-mail soon!
