Let's Build A Team! [LBAT Community Champion Contest]
https://media.giphy.com/media/WmLh6e5c6WTQY/giphy.gif
ENTRIES ARE Open
Good day everyone, BowietheNifty here with something a little different. This month instead of working on concepts of my own, I have decided to try to host a little contest on the boards. May I introduce "Lets Build a Team" to the list of community contests for everyone to enter. If you are familiar with the contests then yes this might look familiar to you. Well at least the layout anyways but you can thank 'Echoing' for allowing me permission to use the CCOS layout and a little altered score rubric. So this contest is going to be a little different then the ones that most people are used to. Lets get the run down before anything on how this is going to work.
Lets Build a Team
Like the title entails, "Lets Build a Team" revolves around creating a wondrous team of custom champion concepts. Now this doesn't mean that each participant submits 5 custom concepts to be apart of it. Nope, instead the participants will choose the role they wish to create a champion for and compete with others only in that role. It is either that or a participant can simple choose "Fill" and be assigned to a role. There will be a winner for each role being 5 in total. The winning team will then be judged and given merit on how well they would perform together. So feel free to work with your fellow community members to create an impressive team.
Contents: List of Entrants | Prizes | Entry Requirements | How to Enter | Timeline | Scoring | Judges Needed! | FAQ | Support the LBAT and other contests!
Entrants (2/20)(1/5 Reservations): Top Laners 0/4(+1)
_camick _reserved
Junglers 0/4
Mid Laners 0/4
Bot Laners 1/4 Wieland, the Steel Savage by Echoing
Supports 1/4 Zhi'Xar, the Void Parasite by iKratosKlayton
Note: Don't hesitate to call out errors, mistakes happen! As well keep in mind the the term 'Bot Laners', this doesn't mean that the created concept must be an ADC. Though keep in mind you are competing in the position that ADC's like to traverse and that could effect your score.
Prizes:
- Each role will have a winning concept that will be highlighted and praised in the results announcement.
- ALL entries will have a score associated with their concept in the scoring categories as well as a good chance at feedback and critiques.
- The winning team of concepts will be automatically entered into a future contest against future LBAT winners.
- ALL entries will be referenced in the LBAT Archive to be viewed later. This is new so no archive exists as of yet.
Entry Requirements:
- Limit ONE entry per player.
- You can reserve a spot for a role if you so choose, even without a posted concept. Though you must complete the concept 5 days before the entry date closes. Otherwise your spot will be given to completed concept applicants if any.
- Concept Entries must be posted this month, or have been posted last month (as in this month; June 2017, and last month; May 2017), and never entered in a LBAT or CCOS or CCCCC contest before.
- No WIP Concepts please. This contest is here to encourage complete content. WIP Concepts will be disqualified and / or ineligible for points.
- Concept Entries must be YOURS. If the linked Concept's author and your name are different, your entry will be disqualified, and / or rendered ineligible for points.
- Entries will be taken from now until I post a [Contest Closed] thread on the 18th. If I forget to post this topic, let me know!
- All entries must at least have a LORE and a KIT section to be considered a concept. More is needed to remain competitive, but to proceed to judging, you need at least that. Concepts without a LORE and a KIT by the time judging begins will be considered a WIP Concept, and thus disqualified and / or ineligible for points.
- Only a certain amount of entries per role will be taken. 4 for each role or 20 entries in all. Any posts above that limit will not be entered.
- Entrants can be disqualified and / or be ineligible for points based on rude behavior towards other entrants / judges (though negative feedback, so long as it is constructive, is fine), as well as disregarding of the Universal Forum Rules (no, porn is NOT a legitimate reference image). Other major problems may also qualify.
How to Enter:
- Post your concept normally within the Skin & Champion Concepts Board, if it's not already posted or reply to THIS POST asking for a reservation on a select role. "Filling" a role gets you a better chance for a reservation but leaves the choice for your role up to FATE! (Your's truly)
- Reply to THIS POST with a link to your posted concept.
- Wait for me to reply with "Entry Confirm!". If it takes more than a few days for me to reply, don't hesitate to remind me! I might've missed you!
- Watch the "Current Entrants" List above and double check that you're up there, if you are, then you're in!
Note: There is max of 20 slots with 4 spots for each role. As well if one role becomes too popular with entries, I might decline new entries for the role so that the others will be filled.
Timeline:
6/1/17 - LBAT begins, entries taken, reservations being taken
6/10/17 - Entries still being taken, reservations no longer taken
6/13/17 - Reservations due for submission
6/18/17 - Entries no longer taken, judging begins
6/28/17- Judging stops
6/30/17- Results announced
Scoring: Scoring is based on this rubric for individual champions:
(Max) Category
(20) Lore
(20) Flow/Fun
(20) Design Implementation
(20) Novelty
(10) Cohesiveness
(10) Role Presence
(+5) Good Neighbor Bonus (LEAVE A LINK! No link = 0 points!)

(100+10) Total per judge
Team Rubric
(25) Diversity
(25) Game Play Health
(25) Synergy
(25) Viability
_ (100) Total per judge
Note: If you have any questions on a category, I'd be happy to go into more detail.
As before, leave useful feedback on a fellow entrant's concept, then make sure the judges have a way to find it easily.
Judges Needed: So if you're at all interested in judging this month, E-Mail me at "[email protected]" and I'll give you more info. I encourage lots of questions! I ALWAYS need more judges, and there is no detriment to stop trying and walk away halfway through (because a lot can come up over the course of a month).
I do ask that all judges fill out the rubric and provide feedback for every champion. If you don't, I can't accept your scores.
FAQ:
Hey wait, Outreach Bonus?
I'm splitting the good neighbor bonus since this subcommunity is getting too insular. The outreach bonus follows the same rules as the good neighbor bonus, but has to be on a concept that, at the time of posting, is NOT in LBAT.
But I've never made a Concept before....
Honestly, just give it your best shot. Try searching up other CCOS entries and look at what won first place. Focus on what makes your champion unique from everyone else. Imagine playing against it - is this guy going to be permabanned like Zed or Yasuo? Study up on how Riot writes their lore.
Or just reference Sir ArmaMalum's Introduction to Champion Concepts. That works too.
I have a WIP Concept...
Work in progresses are something I am very familiar with. You are always welcome to make a reservation for a role if you know what you want the champion to do, even if it isn't posted. Now if it is a posted concept that still needs work done, I will keep it as a reservation tell it is completed. Now all you need for entry is lore and a complete kit to be considered acceptable, everything else is optional. So don't be afraid about posting entries that don't have all the optional components. :)
I don't have a Concept, and I don't have time to judge, but I want to help!
This is still cool. The single best way for you to help is to give feedback. Negative or positive, just make sure it's constructive, and that the author can use it effectively if they choose to do so. Even small things can truly help even like providing info about the contest.
Can I change my Concept after entry?
As encouraging feedback and Concept participation is a major motive behind this contest, I encourage iterating on a Concept, HOWEVER you have to be able to argue it's still the same champion, so no major changes. Otherwise, it will have to count as a new entry, with your previous entry being disqualified. Please keep in mind that your entry doesn't start until you provide the link here; If you want feedback before entering I advise you to simply post it normally, and provide the link when you feel you're ready. Just be sure to enter before the entry period ends, and before we hit 30 entries!
Does that mean I can't swap out my Concept completely?
No. So long as there's still room left, you can completely swap out your Concept. If we're at 30 entries and you want to change, then I can't allow that.
Should I drop out?
You can, but there's no opportunity cost to staying in, so I'd recommend you just go the distance.
Can I change my Concept after judging starts?
Yes, but this may not be the smartest thing to do. The judges peruse the entries at their own pace once judging begins, in whatever order they desire. This means there is no guarantee that your changes will be seen by every judge. If you do make changes, especially late in the judging period, you have to be prepared for a score that does not accurately reflect your final Concept.
What's it take to judge?
You need to be able to understand why certain design choices are made. It's not enough that a concept looks cool, it needs to make sense from a design perspective and still be fun to play and at least defeatable by opponents. You also need to be able to identify the individual parts of each champion and how they work toward one whole champion. If you're in the habit of posting long good neighbor reviews, or if you've scored in the top five in any LBAT or previous CCOS, you're in a good spot here. If you're the kind of guy that can't muster even a paragraph for another concept, I'd suggest refraining or improving upon your critical analysis skills.
Support the LBAT and other contests: Some of you have been doing this already, but if you'd like to support the LBAT , as well as get more people involved each month, provide a link to this post on your entry so that others can find it easier. Of course this isn't just for the LBAT, but other contests as well. The CCOS is a great contest that deserves recognition as well. Even the CCCCC needs to be spread around. It really livens up the community. This is by no means a requirement, but thanks to anyone who does help out!
Above all else, have fun!
