Who really fears Fiddlesticks?
First and foremost, when you look at the lore of this fella; it appears that nothing can stand in his way. He is creepy as hell.
Then you pick him in game and look at his character design. I mean wtf, a skinny old scarecrow that dies if you blow at him.
I think it is high time he gets a complete rework; much like how Sion did. Gone are the days when Fiddlesticks was viable. 3 seconds entire team silence was what made him great. His drain is useless because most people can walk away or disable him out of it.
His jungling is piss poor now. When Fiddles is seen by even supports; they don't run. They use his wood to cook food for themselves. No ONE fears the Fiddlesticks; especially when he is alone. Fiddlesticks the scurdy scarecrow that afraid of everything, even cute little creatures like G'naw.
With the upgrade to Kennen, where his ultimate can hit/stun everyone simultaneously. His single ability overshadows Fiddlesticks (almost) entire kit:
- Kennen ult is instant; Fiddles has a wind-up that can be interrupted
- Kennen ult can stun people (thanks to his passive)
- Fiddlesticks has to use a second skill that is slow moving and silences instead of stun
- Fiddlesticks Stationary Drain contradicts his kit rather than complimenting him (his passive and ultimate want him to move with the targets; while his Drain forces him in place)
- Gone are the days when Champions had this sort of design where they had downsides/contradictions in their kit. That is perhaps one of the major reasons he is soooo f'ing weak and will never see competitive play
So how to make Fiddlesticks great again? We know his multiple silence (on a single character) ain't coming back, because the game needs to be dumbed down for beginners. Number tweaks never really work with his kit because if you make him competitively viable, he stomps noob games because it takes a few games to learn to make him your biatch.
OK so here is an inspiration. Look at King Leoric, every thing about him incites fear. His model, his giant ass mace and then his skill set.
The major thing common between Fiddlesticks and Leoric is the drain mechanism. Leoric's drain is a skillshot that connects to champions only and on contact makes a string between him and the target; only to be broken by distance. It also doesn't root Leoric to place. Additionally, it drains % hp; so he is scarier for beefier targets.
Here is my idea for a Fiddlesticks make-over. I will leave the numbers to the developers and the community. The main idea is for him to be dreaded. For him to not be able to easily get close but when he does, all hell (or crows) break lose. A true scarecrow (is relatively stationary) but scary as hell from up close. Hope you all enjoy.
Statistics: Fiddlesticks should change to a sturdy melee that starts swinging his scythe (rather than a measly sickle) at enemies and is able to take a lot of damage.
Passive (True Stages of Fear): Each one of Fiddlestick's abilities incites a little bit of fear in them. Damage over Time abilities are counted as a single hit (during the initial impact)
- Fear Slows: Enemies hit by a Fiddlestick's ability while not under any of the effects from Fiddlesticks are slowed by 5% for 1.5 seconds.
- Fear Silences: Enemies hit by a Fiddlesticks's ability that are under the slowed effect of Fiddlesticks are silenced for 1.25 seconds.
- Fear Fears: Enemies hit by a Fiddlesticks's ability that are under the silenced effect of Fiddlesticks are feared for 1.00 second.
Scythe Swing (Q): Fiddlesticks swings his giant Scythe in an arc that damages every enemy in his path. If there is only one target hit, they take increased damage.
Life Drain (W): Fiddlesticks shoots out a spirit arm that tethers to the first champion hit, draining them of their hp and healing in turn. Unlike before, this is a skill-shot and Fiddlesticks is free to move without breaking drain. Disabling Fiddlesticks also doesn't break the Drain Link; the only thing that does so is distance.
Crow Toss (E): Fiddlesticks conjures up and throws a crow in a straight line that passes through and damages each target hit.
Crow Storm (R): Fiddlesticks instantly conjures up a murder of crows around him that deal insane damage per second for 5 seconds.
