Riot Games should make an MMO? PLEASE?

I know Riot mostly has to focus around balancing League of Legends and the new content that has to come with it, but it's one of the biggest gaming companies and I'm sure they could have another team manage a brand new game, which would be an MMORPG.

I think this would give the game a way bigger fanbase, as opposed to its current almost non-existent fanbase (fanbase and playerbase are two different things), because most players don't care too much about the lore or the world- this is because almost none of League's lore is represented in-game. This way, we could explore it in-depth.

You'd get to choose between Ionia, Zaun, Piltover, Demacia and Noxus as starting areas and each would have unique classes, with Bilgewater, Targon and the Shadow Isles being optional factions you can join later on. Each would have their own storylines.

Some lategame dungeons being portals to the Void, where the bosses are Cho'Gath and the like. Some of the in-lore characters could be NPC's, with Aurelion maybe even popping up, who knows?

The amount of customization and character creation all the different factions would offer, especially also in terms of abilities, would be amazing. I think this could quite literally be the greatest MMORPG of all time, honestly? The amount of genuinely good content seems endless with League's universe, honestly. From sailing to cooking to forging to just looking for artifacts, there's more than enough potential in Runeterra for something great. I think everyone'd love to explore it.

Plus, wouldn't you love exploring Piltover and then making the descent to Zaun?! EDIT: Think of all the PVP options as well with the Demacia/Noxus factions and Ionia/Noxus, all of that stuff with the warring factions. Plus Riot's Alternate Universes could be events to sell outfits, like a Star Guardian event for SG outfits!!!

Think about it. It'd be godly.

Riot can't even fix their own game and u want them to make and MMORPG and there is only 1 MMORPG that succeeded and that is WoW.

DUDE. You have no idea how long I have thought of this idea and desperately wanted it. I would play the ever living shit out of a League MMO. I've always thought the lore was just PERFECT for the genre (especially since the actual League of Legends game doesn't really explore the sincerity of the lore, which is partially sad considering how the lore team has put their hearts and souls into it). I would love to create my own character and play through an epic story.

Perhaps I'd chose Noxus. I want to be at the top, so I have to go through hell and high water and then some just to have a shot. Only to be backstabbed. But will I press onward?

Or maybe I'd chose Ionia. I am gifted magically but I have to push the boundaries of peace. Will I join the Brotherhood? Maybe Irelia's resistance? Or will I betray Ionia altogether, and be a spy for Noxus?

It's AMAZING. The possibilities are endless. And the settings are perfect.

The only thing I'd want is for it to be primarily story-based. Not "grind fest for cool hats". I'd want multiple (and I mean multiple) starting stories for each faction, as well as a variety different endings for each of those stories. And I'd love if starting stories for factions would have options that would make a story interwoven with another, creating even more diversity. Or even a genuine choose your own story, where each player's story can be vastly different for a vast universe such as League.

I'd 1000000000% want a League MMO. So you can kindly take my upvote. And I wish I could upvote this a 1000 times. Because I love this idea and I can't wait for it to happen.

Every MMO is the same these days.

You start the game and are forced to go on a main questline for a story the makers force you to play.

The days of MMOs letting players do what they want with small side quests sprinkled everywhere for universe interpretation is over.

No thanks. MMO games based on worlds that are already built almost always suck.

Now a classic styled RPG with a linear story? I'd take that.

MMOs are a dying genre. Only those who already have a huge fanbase work, and the others barely survive.

I'd honestly rather have a coop Sandbox-RPG.

My only complaint with MMOs is that it is a lot of fun to try out all of the different races, but it sucks having to grind the repetitive hours and quests it takes to level and gear them all up. It would be nice to do it once and unlock other kits at a lower level but not lvl 1.

The benefit of Runescape is you. have one character you're improving all of the time. Mage, Archer, Warrior. In most MMOs, if you want to switch, welcome to the start of the game again. Its tedious.

Alternatively if you got one character to max level it could unlock like a 3x or 5x permanent leveling boost for all subsequent characters to shorten the time investment to build up new toons you want to try.

Riot is NOT one of the biggest gaming companies. They only have around 1000 people employed IIRC. Do you know what it takes to make an MMO?

I like this idea as long as they don't make one similar to all of the recent flunks over the years. All I know is they need to do something new because they are losing a lot of players.
