Star Guardian 2019 predictions!

The Star Guardian skins are some of my favourites in League and I thought it might be fun to speculate who could be getting them this year!

We know Star Guardians come in groups of 5 and they are typically humanoid champions.

I think it's likely we'll get the skins within the next 5 patches, so champs who have recently received skins can be ruled out, such as Karma, Caitlyn and Qiyana.

As of now, Star Guardians are mostly female, but there a few male champions who I wouldn't be surprised to see.

So, who do I think are our best bets for the Star Guardians?

  1. Taliyah - this one is obvious really, aside from an esports skin she's received nothing since her release. Her upbeat personality and her being cute is exactly what the SG line is all about.
  2. Annie - she hasn't had a skin for a little while and she fits into the theme pretty easily.
  3. Sona - at first I wasn't sure since Odyssey doesn't seem like that long ago, but seeing as Yasuo is getting arcade in the next patch I'd say SG Sona is very likely.
  4. Zoe - this skin pretty much makes itself.
  5. Kayle - recently reworked so now is much more likely to receive skins, also fits into the theme very well.

They're the 5 who I think are most likely going to be this year's Star Guardians, but others I think could be possible are: -Ashe -Taric -Xayah & Rakan -Neeko -Urgot (it wouldn't surprise me tbh)

So yeah, they're my predictions. Who would you like to see as the new Star Guardians?

My guesses would be:

Yuumi - Fits the theme too well and she's popular.

Sona - She's one of the few female enchanters left that doesn't have an SG skin (apart from Karma, but she just got a skin).

Irelia - Popular and would fit the line well.

Taliyah - Not entirely convinced since she could also get a really good Halloween skin later this year too.

What about Ekko? I'm not really sure you could make the effects work, but he could be a cool guy in the group. Less arrogant than Ezreal. Many people ship Taliyah and Ekko (even Stellari does) so it would be great to have them in a shared skinline. And honestly SG needs more than just Lux and Ezreal.

What I would personally like to see:

Orianna She is perfect for the line, imo. She fills some quite interesting niches when it comes to anime tropes. Robot girl - check Has something that can become her familiar in the kit - check Unused personality trope - check (kuudere) Goes well with the girly theme - check

And Orianna could have such an interesting backstory. Imagine if she is one of the old veterans and got a lethal injury on a mission. But the First Star managed to save her life by replacing her dying body with a new, artificial, magical body.

Quinn Didn't get a skin for a long time and Valor would make a great familiar.

Sona The skin line fits her well and the skin is highly requested by her mains. Seems fair to give it to her.

I was waiting for someone to do a post like this one! I've been trying to predict the future star guardians too. Here are my predictions:

Taric - Taric's last skin was the pool party one 3 years ago. The Star Guardian skins have a "cute" theme, and among the boys who could fit the theme well is Taric. Im speculating that he could be kind of like the "boss" of the star guardians.

Xayah Rakan - Even though these two got skins not too long ago we know that team skins don't count, and their last non-esports skins were the sweetheart ones a year and a half ago. They're popular, can fit the "cute" theme and their abilities would look good with sparkly effects. Almost a safe bet.

Zoe - I don't think this needs much explanation. Her last skin was almost a year ago and she just fits the theme too well. Im not sure on this one but I wouldn't be surprised by it.

Neeko - Ok, hear me out on this one. She fits the theme, and even though she was released not too long ago, we know that popular new champs get their second skin fast (hi, Pyke) also, we know for sure that there's a skin for her in development since they explained that Winter Wonder Neeko would go to the legacy vault next christmas but she would get a skin before that. Since the Star Guardian skins usually come with cinematics, lore and all that stuff, they probably pick the champions very early so if they already knew she was getting a skin for sure maybe its cause she's part of the future star guardians.

Kayle Morgana - I wouldn't call them "cute" per se, but just like Syndra, they could be cute if they decided to make them. Morgana's last skin was almost 3 years ago and Kayle's was almost 2 years ago and since they worked on them recently I wouldn't be surprised if they were working on a skin for them and I think it could perfectly be star guardian skins.

Taliyah - Honestly this is more something I hope than a prediction. This lady has a lot of potential for cool skins yet all she got since release was an esports skin that doesn't even count. I get she's not the most popular champ, but still. Let Taliyah be a Star Guardian!

Riven - So yeah... I fear she might be chosen for the skin line. Just like they did with arcade, they'll have to pick one of the super popular champs for star guardian to get money, and her last skin was a year ago... still, I hope she gets the PROJECT one and not this one.

Quinn - People constantly forget she exists but her last skin was 2 years and a half ago, and even though she's not very popular I think she would look good on star guardian, there are a lot of cool concepts.

Annie - She clearly fits the theme and everything and her last skin was almost 2 years ago so yeah. Not too excited about this but it could be.

Ekko he's a teen just lile Ez, he could be the mature guy to contrast Ez as the cocky guy Diana Kaisa ( she's getting skins ridiculously often) Jayce (if it fits Battle Academy it certainly fits Star Guardians I guess Ezreal Lux ) Katarina (same as above) Kayn (I imagine this one with Rhaast being an angel like familiar, and blue Kayn a mix of the familiar and Kayn so an angelic human ala Star Guardian Soraka) Leona Morgana (idk, if riot thinks Syndra fits then Morgana might fit for them) Neeko (if yordles fit then Neeko fits I guess) Rakan Xayah (they'd look cute as angelic SG ala Soraka) Sona how have they not done SG Sona yet? [sg-janna] Yuumi she could be a familiar whose Star Guardian dissapeared under misterius circumstances Zoe Annie she could be inspired in Sailor Chibi Moon and they could make Tibbers like her machine thingy.... or a cute af familiar.

So basically I'm expecting from 4 to 6 of all of those champs (ideally for me it would be Xayah Rakan Kayn Sona Ekko Katarina , because I love Sona Kat and Ekko and the others because I'd love to see more Angelic star Guardians, so pretty [sg-jinx] ! (or Yuumi instead of sona [sg-lux] )

Err. Your "best bets" are somewhat questionable. Taliyah is the most probable of that list, and possibly Sona, but I'd be really hard pressed to assume Annie, Zoe, and Kayle are going to be thrown into the skin line. They seem like a bit of a stretch to me, especially considering that the line tends to have a lore focus on girls who can get away with being high school age in appearance, with the Yordles fulfilling that youthful, but secretly alien position. Annie and Zoe would be a bit out of place with that, and Kayle doesn't really fit the thematic for me.

I think Taric is a really high bet at this point. His last skin was years ago, and he's been interestingly left out of some recent skin lines that seem like a shoe in for him. As for the rest of your "possibles," I don't think any of them necessarily work. Ashe is ok, but meh, and Xayah and Rakan are hard NOs for this skin line to me. Neeko also wouldn't particularly fit this skin line, and Urgot is a FUCKING HARD NO. Urgot SHOULD NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER be in the actual Star Guardian skin line FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER. He can get a joke skin next April Fool's that's like bad cosplay of the line or whatever, but he will absolutely ruin the skin line if they put him in there for the point of a meme.

That said, if they do finally do villains for the Star Guardians, Urgot would make a great villain, as would Annie, as the demonic child with a savage pet is very anime for villains. And Lissandra, of course, would have to be the Queen Beryl of the universe.

-About Taliya... idk how could she fit this skin line from her abilities's perspective. How would you translate earthbending to sparky magic? (I'm actually salty she didn't get to be in the arcade skin line since I think her earthbending could have been amazing as a tetris reference. Such wasted potential. I also think she fits Pool Party more than star Guardian: original Taliya: earth bending. Winter Taliya: ice bending. Pool party Taliya: water bending: surf style) But if you make her earth bending shiny magic wouldn't it look weird and confusing from a clarity viewpoint?

-The same goes with Irelia. How do you translate flying knives to magicall sparks withouh creating a clarity mess?

-So I think we have to take into account popular champions that even if tematically speaking might not fit, they have potential to have effects fotting sparky magic withputh creating a clarity mess. (Or at least that seems to be Riot's logic. MissFortune Syndra )

-I say these have higher chances: Sona Xayah Leblanc Rakan Diana Leona Morgana Kayle Ekko and any adc, including Kaisa (seriusly, Riot has a kink for this dull af hoe)

-Also thematically these fit too well Annie Zoe Yuumi

*But idk, maybe they'll go with evil starguardians this time?

Are probably who I'd expect. Based on the skin line's past as well as popular champs

For girls I say Annie and Zoe have to no doubt have it.

For Males, I really want Taric and maybe Varus.

If we see a set of villians I want urgot and lissandra at least. I would have originally even put Syndra here but since she's part of the line already, it doesn't work XD unless she got a legendary where she went from being on the good team to the total dark side.

I hope it's a third group of five but with the way riot goes it will probably be 4 or less.

Also, if we were to see Kayle, I'd also want Morg in some fashion cause dual themes for them is always fun. Plus it'd fill the void from both their last skins.

Xayah would reject the offer but rakan would rope her in. She'll be all tsundere like. Coming to aid the gang at last minute. Claiming to do it solely because rakan asked but she really cares.

Zoe... Just fits. She just thinks it be fun. And ezreal is one too. So she hoped to meets him. lol

Taliyah does too. She try to keep the crew together. She never had much friends (none at all actually) so glad to make some. She no longer have to spend her days talking to rocks.

Lastly Sona, Riven or Irelia.

I'll go with Sona. She easily fits the theme. I could be that silent person who wishes the team stick together. She be the first to cry when the xayah finally joins. She ult them for picture perfect moment 😁.

It be fun everyone just trying to interpret what she's trying to say. Xayah guesses would always be wrong but funny.

P.s. Taliyah is team leader.

Rakan got the IG skin but Xayah didnot so maybe it will be Xayah only to get SG skin

Personally, Morgana fits the theme of the Purple Star Guardian.

I do also see Xayah and Rakan being picked. Xayah fits the theme of the pink star guardian (Leader), and Rakan is her 2nd in command (Red Star Guardian). They can definitely do a dark pink for X and a bright red for R.

Blue to me is usually an adventurous / curious themed champion, so Yuumi or Neeko even Zoe

I don't have a particular idea of what the theme what the Green Star Guardian is because cute and innocent looking... Sona maybe?

would be my top 5 choices but I also wouldn't mind seeing

Neeko I’m 100% sure Neeko will get a SG skin cause it just fits her so well and she just has 1 skin. I think she is going to get the legendary one

Zoe Zoe cause it fits her and last skin was 1 year ago

Annie Annie cause she hasn’t had a skin for a while and it would be great

I honestly could see Irelia, mostly because when you look at the skin line it is all Supports, Mages and ADCs, with the exception being Poppy, I think its an issue with Top and Jg being mostly tanks and bruisers with some Assassins thrown in (but any Assassins I could see fitting into the line are mid lane Assassins, not Jungle Assassins.) But yeah another Top Laner or Jungler would be interesting (but the only other top Laners I could think of for the line are Irelia and Riven, and I am at a complete lose for Junglers.)

I know she isnt out yet and is fairly new but please, Qiyanna the level of sass she would have would be god like. I can already see her just tearing lux a new one and the epic diss battle between her and ahri would be everything

I think the majority of SG skins have been mages, with a couple of off-focus ones. So...they're going to need some more off-focus ones.

Also...they said they're not really looking to put any more males into the line, so I'm going to place my bet that Xayah/Rakan are out.

Irelia - pretty flexible top/mid, popular, fits the line of fighting for justice and shit.

Quinn - Already has a pet, and kit fits the role explicitly well as "one who responds to injustice anywhere."

Morgana - Another "Darker Star" like Syndra, Morg's role would likely be more of a selfish defense of the world, than it is a sense of justice.

Ashe - leader Ashe is already known as a leader in most other lore, and I don't see why they'd pass her over.

Shen - (breaking my own rules here) Shen is Tuxedo Mask. :P

My Top 5: Nunu Nunu is my main and #1 pick, him and willump would make really cute as a star guardians Taric Taric was my #1 pick before Nunu was reworked, my only fear is that armor of the fifth age would look too similar (must be pink) Taliyah Taliyah has not yet gotten a new skin (aside from e sports) and would fit well with star guardians Ekko Ekko just got a skin in October but would still fit really well as a star guardian (better than most guy champs Either Zilean Zilean or Udyr Udyr both would work well as mentor characters and neither have gotten skins in ages, if they got in they would need to be the legendary skins

Guys Star Guardians: Varus would work well (could be swapped with Ekko) Kled, Olaf, or Tryndamere would be funny vulgar star guardians Darius, Garen, Jarvan, or Xin Zhao would be manly star guardians (would look funny) Ryze would work well Kayne or Sylas would be a bit too dark for the skin set but could work

Pets: Aurelion Sol Yuumi

More likely we would get a bunch of easy girl champion skins

Leona Nami Tristana Akali Leblanc Annie Sivir Karma Zoe Kayle Morgana Ashe Nidalee Diana Quinn... etc

I actually had nothing to do, so I made a list of champs I think that fits the theme (basically what we could see this year)

In my opinion, everything that fits the theme : Ashe Neeko Sona Taliyah

Akali (Just got Project) Caitlyn (Just got Arcade) Ekko (Just got Halloween skin) Irelia (Just got Project) Kaisa (Just got Arcade) Karma (Just got Dark Star) Katarina (Just got Battle Academia) Leblanc (Just got Program) Nami (Just got Program) Tristana (Just got little demon)

I think that some champs COULD fit aswell : Cassiopeia Diana Elise Evelynn Fiora Kayle Morgana Nidalee Quinn Rakan Riven Shyvana Taric Vi Xayah Zoe Zyra

Leona (Got her 2 legendary skins not long ago) Qiyana (Just got released) Sivir (Just got blood moon) Vayne (Just got firecracker) Zilean (Confirmed skin for zilean, might be a star guardian even if i don't like the idea)

So yeah, let me know who you think are going to get star guardian skins and why

My prediction is that Riot wont make SG skin this year.

Not because I hate SG line (I do actually), but I dont think Riot is making a line this season. We could probably get more Odyssey or PROJECT, who knows.
