Warwick Rework Concept

Lore

During the Noxian Invasion of Ionia, Noxus took captured prisoners to laboratories to test new military technology. Those who died in the testing chambers were the lucky ones. Those who ended up in Singed's lab, however, were submitted to a fate of desiring the end, but never reaching it. Completely lacking regard for even the basest, most simple concepts of humanity, the sociopathic scientist committed atrocity after atrocity against his subjects. Warwick was one of these poor, tortured souls. Warwick was a man of high status in Ionia prior to his capture. He came from a long line of warriors who served the elders of Ionia. When the war broke out, he was immediately assigned to Karma's personal detail. During an ambush, however, Warwick was cut off from the rest of the group, and was taken captive. Because of his status and place in the Ionian army, he was brought to Singed. Noxian High Command wanted to turn him into the first in a line of augmented soldiers, breaking his will and turning him against his own people. The experimentation fragmented Warwick's mind until he behaved as a wild animal. As the magic imbued substances began to take effect, they altered his body, cursing him with the body of a werewolf. His strength continued to grow until, one day, he became too strong for his restraints, and broke out of Singed's labs. For the next month, Warwick terrorized the people in the nearby area, killing both Noxian and Ionian alike. As the body count began to climb, Ionian leaders took note. They sent hunters to kill him, but he killed them. His reign of terror seemed to be unstoppable. It was at this time that the Ionian army retook the land he was located within. After stories of soldiers disappearing at night began to come in, Karma, who was visiting the land, decided to take a look into the situation. With her personal guard, she left for the nearby forests. As they walked through the forest, Warwick ambushed them. The fighting was fierce. Warwick managed to murder Karma's guard, but Karma had dealt some serious damage to Warwick. He was about to lunge at her, but a great and powerful force lifted the two aloft. With a massive blast, the two were sent flying in opposite directions. With that moment of violence, Soraka left the cosmos and became a part of the physical universe. With a single spell, she healed the fallen soldiers, Karma, and even Warwick. As the soldiers and Karma surrounded the subdued Warwick, Soraka told Karma who he was underneath the fur. Karma was immediately filled with pity and loss for her old friend who had been captured by Noxus. Then, in a moment of inspiration, Karma gained access to the ancient spirits of balance. With the spirits, she gave Warwick peace by forcing his true self to the surface. When Warwick awoke, he was in a hall with Karma looking down upon him. Remembering all the atrocities he committed, but feeling sorrow and disgust at his actions, he retched, as though emptying his stomach would erase all of the long digested flesh. He looked up to Karma with self-hatred filling his heart. With a caress of his face, however, Karma washed away his self-loathing. In that moment, he knew what he had to do. He would fight Noxus wherever he could, in retribution for what they had done to him. Forcing himself, he took control of his primal form, and from that day, the only blood he spilled was the blood of his enemies.

“Many Ionians have been forced to terrible extremes by this evil war. The good in them, however, must be sought out and helped, for we find true victory in war not by killing our enemy, but by saving what they have tried to destroy.” ~Karma

Warwick is always a werewolf

Alright. I have loads to say about this. But first I have to get two things out of the way.

  1. I love it.
  2. There is a rather large discrepancy between this concept and the lore, in which Warwick is stuck in his wolfish form.

Disregarding the lore issue, I love the entire idea because it has character, and functions both to balance the character and make him more powerful/versatile. (He is clearly still a jungler, but he can do a lot more in teamfights.) I have only 1 criticism of the kit, which is that the ult is too strong. I would give him 2.5 seconds to recast it. The reason I say this is because with his other lunge, and some ally help, it should be incredibly easy for him to dive on top of another squishy or low character, do some damage, and use his ult to finish them within 10 seconds. If you give him less time to make the decision of whether or not to reuse his ult, and on whom, it'll be a lot harder to go on an ulting spree. (But still possible.)(Note: I'm assuming a fed Warwick. We all know it would happen, and we have to ask the question: "what happens when Warwick gets fed?") Other than that, the kit looks solid. It has good AD ratios, base damage, and mechanics. He obviously needs attack speed to enter Werewolf form faster (because that's where he does the real damage) and then higher AD ratios help a lot. But since he has to stick on top of his enemy to stay in Werewolf form, some tankiness would help.

Strategy: one thought sticks in my head. Ganking is essential, but 10 autos are hard to get. Obviously, it would be difficult to enter Werewolf form when ganking, so it would be ideal to already be in Werewolf form when you enter the lane. However, 7 seconds isn't that long, and there are only 2 monsters near most lanes. The Scuttler you can chase towards any lane, but you can't keep it there. Blue buff, Chickens, and Krugs are all near lanes, but they aren't that close. It presents a pretty tricky problem for the jungler. Counter-jungling would probably be more effective (for getting kills)--but also quite a bit more dangerous.
