I feel like no thread should be judged off its title... a title alone doesn't give enough info to agree or disagree to.

It feels inequitable
It feels negatively hype-promoting

The rating does not represent the title, but the entire thread's content as a whole. Relax, I won't downvote you if you misspell something in the title.

True, however people are able to up or downvote without ever entering a Thread. You might not downvote a title, but plenty will. I don't think that type of discrimination is equitable to this environment. Sure, it may have its upsides, but I think the greater good lies in leaving this feature off.

The greater good would be to not have any kind of voting at all, since most people seem to think the voting system means to downvote people who disagree and upvote people who don't, which at least in the old forums lead to big threads of nothings but "I agree" and a lot of censored, yet perfectly valid responses because kids can't handle opinions.

Bottom line, you are going to be judged and discriminated no matter if its on the title or on your actual posts. Removing title voting won't fix it, it will just shift it. Not particularly a "greater good" imho.

Also I'd like to be able to downvote a thread with the title "HAHA U BRONZIE NOOBS" by just the title and the small snippet I get from hovering over it and get that sludge out without having to click more than once.

I guess I feel that down-voting a thread just because you're disinterested in the topic title is worse than having to click one extra time to enter a stupid thread like "HAHA U BRONZIE NOOBS" to down-vote it. "Into it, not into it," doesn't really make for a healthy forum environment... this shouldn't be hotornot.com. I tend to agree with you mostly however.

The team is going to discuss. I'm inclined to agree with you here personally but I'm not sure what the rest of the team thinks. The big reason that we would want to allow people to vote from the list page is if we allowed people to submit links to other sites instead of discussions here - because you could still visit the link without visiting the comments on this community which would allow you to form an opinion on the content.

Thanks for the prompt reply. My question is: do you want to allow for link-headings to detract from discussion here or take away from the comment-traffic? I dislike the idea of link-headings for that reason. I think it's important we keep it in the community how we can, even if that means having to click a discussion topic to open it's link.

BONUS - please implement up/downvoting of "update replies" (in the "updates" page itself)... additionally, please don't have the system give you update you on your own content replies (e.g. every so often I'll reply to my own thread-topic & get an update on myself).

This cultural change is going to be hard to manage. GD uses upvotes and downvotes to express "I agree" and "I disagree".

For example, if you post in an Ahri nerf thread that you like how the new charm feels, you're going to get downvoted to oblivion. If you instead post that Ahri is find and shouldn't be nerfed, you get upvoted to infinity.

The way it should be is that you upvote things that you think are interesting to discuss. It should be essentially impossible to downvote a post to which you replied.

I think it is perfectly reasonable in a system like this to downvote a thread based on a title that you don't want to discuss. I wouldn't want to force people to go read the 138719483247th thread about duo queues being bad players in order to downvote that thing.

Title "this so fuckin shit man" I donwvoted it without looking inside. And I wouldn't even feel bad about if if there was a great argument about some problem there. The title is unacceptable.

What if he had a strong, valid point... it's okay to be upset--sure it isn't the most constructive thread-title, but perhaps a better solution would be an option to Report from the outside, rather than down-vote. Again, for me, I believe it's about the "greater good" in this regard... it's more in the defense of threads that should be given a chance, but never will see the light of day because someone "disliked the name of my champion concept" or examples such as this.

What if Riot locked an individuals ability to vote on a thread by default, until said thread has been viewed.

I feel it's similar to how viewing a thread changes the title color from blue to purple. The option for voting could be locked/unlocked in a similar way? I have no idea if it could be done, just an idea.
