Embedding Youtube Links into thread titles

Please don't do this. I really dislike it when websites redirect me, and am very disappointed to see riot stooping to this level. Especially on their news articles on the main page.

For example, with the newest champion spotlight, instead of going to the thead(which obviously doesn't exist) I am instead redirected directly to youtube. Not only is this disorienting, but it is also extremely annoying. If I want to go to youtube, I will go to youtube myself. Please don't do it for me. I greatly prefer to view youtube videos that are embedded in the actual article. That way I don't even have to go to youtube.

I know I am extremely inexperienced, but I did major in web technologies and design, and tbh, I don't agree with this design. It is extremely jarring, especially for those that are expecting one of riots many news articles. I personally don't think the benefits outweigh the inconsistency it creates with user expectation. Again, yes, I am inexperienced, so take what you will, but at least hear my plea.

Can you show me the link you're talking about ?

It's the Kalista champion spotlight, when you get to it through the news page.

Ah hmm yeah I don't like that either. I'll ask some folks about it. Generally I think that linking to external websites is OK but you have to make sure that you're telling someone that they're going to leave the website (so they can make an informed choice)

I'd prefer it link to this page.

Thank you for looking into this. I haven't replied until now because by the time I read your post, it was already adequately answered.

However, the same issue is occuring the the latest news post on the main splash page: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/champions-skins/champion-preview/terror-beneath

I do agree with your second post that the bare minimum it should at least alert me to the redirect, tho I would personally prefer to be taken to a small article (a few sentences is more than enough) and an embedded video player rather than a direct youtube link. I really dislike leaving websites that I'm on when just looking for news and such.

You mean like Reddit?

It's slightly annoying when I misclick and dont hit "Comment"

I've never used reddit, so I am unfamiliar with how it operates.
