What's the < < do? I like using &nbsp to multiquote without text in between, like so:

  is an entity. In HTML, some characters can be represented by special codes - for example characters with diacritics, or reserved HTML characters. Reserved HTMl characters are, among some more, these: &, >, <

So if you write HTML, you should not be using these directly, instead, you use their entities: &, &gt, <
