[Feedback] This site needs to have a different color scheme

My main problem with the new site look is that it is painful to look at. I've tried to narrow down why, and the main things I can see causing it are as follows:

The cool colors in the background with the bright center content panal is ouch.
This gets worse when you scroll a bit and the background turns black.
The font has some issues:
It's too small
It really clashes with the previous problems, as now I am squinting at the most painful part of the page
It isn't a legible font. I(i) , l(L) , and 1(one) look exactly the same
The content panal is pretty small on my screen, as I run my resolution at 1600x1900 at all times.

So far, this is what I can pick out, and I need a break from typing this. Feel free to share what irritates you about the new site look below, as well as suggest changes to Riot.

P.S. I don't want to run more programs to fix this, so please don't suggest f.lux or anything 3rd party. This site is the only place I encounter this, so that program will not get enough uses to warrant downloading it.

I don't like how the comments and original post are separated. It makes it feel less like a discussion and more like responding to a single post.

I think that is due to the reply box. Though I could see this change, this topic is more concerning the parts that are hard on the eyes, and painful to look at for those with sensitive eyes.

For me the only one I think is a problem is the last one. I made a post about the heavy left-oriented design hurting my eyes. As far as the font and color scheme, for me, I like them.

I think the others wouldn't be as bad if a)the background was less visible, or b)the background didn't contrast so badly with the middle. The fact that the background is cool colors doesn't help either

That said, I do like the art in the back. It just doesn't do well with this page setup.

These boards are too dark. The lack of contrast makes it uncomfortable to read. Really, just white background and black fonts. I know that’s boring, but it is the most comfortable. Are there settings to change these default settings?
