A while back, you made a change to ranked, stating that individuals punished by the tribunal could no longer play ranked until they played a set amount of games in SR Normal Draft. This decision has turned Normal Draft, a mode I actually kinda enjoyed, into a form of prisoner's island. However, it is a bit different. Non-toxic players can indeed visit from time to time, but the majority of the time that I play that mode, I get matched with really toxic people.

If this was intentional, it's pretty low, considering you haven't allowed a non-prisoner's form of Draft Normals, and because you have said time and time again that it was a terrible idea. If it wasn't, do you have a solution? Mine would be to allow the required games to be played in any 5v5 pvp map, including dominion. This would not only dissipate the toxic players, it would have the added bonus of showing that Riot views Dominion as an equal map.

I don't like playing Ranked Simulator 2014 because you get all same toxic baddies but without the elo.

Ahh, that explains why a Garen essentially screamed at me for 10 minutes for not building the way he thought I should. I was wondering why most of my Normal Draft games were filled with ragers.

The current situation may be similar to a "prisoner's island" but it's not the same thing that lyte was so opposed to as there are a few key differences.

  1. There is a way out. Not only is there a way out, but it is not based upon your performance(for the most part) you merely need to play a few games and yer done, kinda like community service. Prisoner's island on the other hand, had no definite way to get out, but rather "if you improve you will play with better players" mentality.

  2. the type of players you play with. In a prisoner's island set, only prisoners would play with each other, which all but guarantees that they stay stuck where they are, and eventually develop their own subculture apart from the normal queues. But in the current mix of things, you have normal players with the punished players, which, while sometimes painful for the norms, helps prevent the punished from falling into a downward spiral.

Also, to anyone that is complaining about the punished players from raging in team chat, this is highly unlikely, as almost all of the punished players have chat restrictions during their stay in normal draft.

I'm pretty sure the majority of people play Normal Draft, at least I do, and I have about the same experience as I do in ranked, just less serious. I could be just getting lucky, but most people I know play Normal Draft the most, or at least that's their go-to mode when they aren't playing ranked.

Is this some kind of ruse? Are you actually on prisoner's island for some outlandish amount of games and are now attempting to get Riot to let you play those games in Dominion because it's a faster game mode? I'M ONTO YOUR SHENANIGANS OP!!!

normals are for queuing as a premade. 3 players minimum or you're gonna have a bad time.

aram is for when you're playing solo or duo

Honestly they should've made a seperate queue for them. Prisoners island shouldn't be something someone stumbles into.

As far as I'm concerned I'd rather them create a true prisoner's island rather than punish the people like us who enjoy normals over ranked in most cases by funnelling all the toxic ranked players into our games.

This might even explain the general distaste I've gained for normal draft and blind pick when I don't have several friends to queue with.

Kinda surprised it took this long for a thread to show up on the forums about it. They probably don't see it as Prisoner's Island because normal players play there, too. Of course, that makes it worse. A real Prisoner's Island wouldn't punish people who just want to practice in normal draft mode. I'm totally in favor of a real Prisoner's Island, but not this half-assed accidental attempt at one.

They should get their own game formed from a special queue. If they had to play 30+ games with 4 people that are just as bad as them, maybe they'll wake up!

I can say, though, that ranked mode has been extremely not-toxic since this change.

At least for me.

Next season I'll probably just have those be my new normals
