[Feedback][Critical]Almost 1 year later, still having headaches and eyestrain. Care to comment Riot?

I found that near the bottom of BEST sort for site feedback. Still hasn't been touched. Still true to this day.

Honestly, I would love to help you guys, but quite honestly, I feel excluded. I am in a well lit room, I'm quite hydrated, yet looking at the community beta STILL feels like staring at the sun. Incredibly painful. The feeling remains in a dimly lit room as well. Google doesn't do this to me, so it must be the cool colors you have in the background.

I know for a fact that Rioters have seen my GDNight skin. I will attach a picture of what it looks like for those who are unfamiliar with it. It is a simple CSS file set to override small aspects like color and whatnot on the old forums. I made it when you guys changed to this color scheme, due to eye injury.

I also know for a fact that the same could be done here, but better as you don't have to fight the site (or at least shouldn't) to make it work, and faster because you don't have to code dive to discover what someone else used as variable names and what size you made various parts of the page. It took me ~1 month of my free time to make that skin, and that was while passing my classes in college AND still playing league and other games on the side. If I can do that, I know you could at least turn down the lights in less time.

But I'm not asking for Community Night. Never have, never will. Just add turn down the brightness so I don't feel injured by simply navigating to ANY part of your site not covered by GDNight. That way I can participate here and not feel homicidal afterwords. I know I'm not alone in feeling like this, as it's been echoed before. So help a fellow league enthusiast out here and turn down the lights.

I'm trying REALLY hard to be civil, and that isn't easy when your eyes feel like they are on fire. The least you could do is pop by and say hi.

Holy crap. Your monitor doesn't have a brightness setting?

I'm sure it does. But having the monitor adjusted for everything else to be the appropriate brightness and then having to come here to CB and having it be overly bright and harsh on the eyes shows that the issue is with the color and contrast of CB. Users shouldn't have to adjust their brightness back and forth repeatedly just to use this site, that is a guaranteed sign that the format of the CB is wrong.

It's weird considering most other people aren't having a problem at all but just you.

If you want to fix your problem. Tune down ur monitor brightness.

It's not CB's problem. And most people are fine with the current colors of the CB.

Well, let's start with the OP has the problem and I acknowledge the problem so that is more than just me. Just because it doesn't effect you doesn't mean it isn't important. Otherwise we could just ignore usability for people that are color blind and other issues. That is awful and irresponsible from a company.

Next lets go to where you should learn to read. If the brightness of the monitor is fine for every site but CB the issue is with CB. You're also blatantly ignoring all the other threads that have been made complaining about the issue whether from eye strain, design, or format of which there have easily been around 25 since I started using the CB.

CB's format and design is CB's problem and its usability is a key design principle that Riot should assure is appropriate for all users.

It does. But that seems like a lot of work for 1 site, especially when the same site has another forum I already skinned to make it viewable. Mackledoge hit it on the head. If the solution is "turn down your brightness, but only for this site," then the site has serious design flaws.

And that comes from someone who used to make money doing websites for other people.

Just popping in here with the new forums, although we still have the community beta, I want to notify you that even with the old boards, third party addons for websites isn't an issue, Mirrored Post:

Actually. This is not an issue for the web options, as it doesn't have ANY impact on gameplay, and doesn't even happen in-game. I'm sure there exists an UserScript out there for Greasemonkey (Firefox) or Tampermonkey (Chrome)

The reason I even mentioned 3rd party being a no-no was because one of the reds made a huge deal about needing 3rd party software to make the forums usable was unacceptable(believe it was Pendragon, iirc). They were in fact referring to FEK when they said it too. Essentially, they wanted FEK to be a choice, not a requirement for their forums to be usable. To me, that meant that they needed to have feedback on the baseline quality BEFORE people started making customizations. The original post had that statement in there to point out that I wasn't going to just skin it so they could get fair and untampered feedback on this.

As a side note, before that thread, I actually had a working version of CommunityNight that I was using to survive the Beta up until they made that statement. Almost had the quality up to par too, just little things I had to fix left before I scrapped it for them. If someone wants an untampered testing ground, I am more than willing to step back and let them have it.

Regardless, it seems they have done a fantastic job on making this version easy on the eyes. Now I can stay retired! (unless someone really wants me to make a classic skin or something)

Almost. 10 months according to that topic, and I raised it on GD before the Community Beta really existed. Then I created GDNight, then suddenly Community Beta.

No offense but it seems like a personal problem? not in a rude "idc about you" way but a "Maybe there is something wrong with your eyes go see a doctor way."
My eyes do not hurt and i do not get headaches and im on here whenever i have down time.
Although i think Riot should have different skins for their backgrounds that we can choose to fit our own style.

I get that it might seem that way, but I'm not alone in this. Other people have made the same comments, and most of those remaining on the forums use the old boards exclusively, due to the above problem. I'm just more stubborn I guess. =P

I want to give this beta a fair shake, but it is hard when 15 minutes cause my eyes to turn bloodshot. It is this site exclusively, and my eyes are actually really good. I take care of them and currently see better than 20/20(yes, that is a thing), though I know that over time I will get progressively more farsighted (runs in the family). I'm not that old yet, so it hasn't happened.

It may seem like a little thing, but Reddit even has the day/night feature. Most forums that have brighter colors have at least a darker style for those of us who prefer/need the darker colors. Why can't we have that here?

Hmm thats strange it must just be a difference in eyes, because ive spent 20-30 minutes on here sometimes more depending on what im doing.. I agree there should be a day/night feature though.
