[Feedback][Bug][Idea]Couple Things with this latest release.

So, today whilst browsing the forums, between the new forum update and the Jinx reveal, I have found 3 things within 3 minutes to address. Seeing as I literally woke up in a bed of fireants, this is not a good start to the day. Please bear with me if I come off a little grumpy.

  • Firstly, I hate the Bold topic titles. Seriously, yuck. The text doesn't need to be bold to get the title across, look at your current vbulletin to get an idea of how to better display information. The info is categorized by Title, author, last poster, etc. It isn't all squished into 1 box with very little formatting. While I get that you want to move away from vbulletin, this is one thing it simply beats the grand majority of it's competition at. Seeing as you are developing your own system, I suggest taking some notes.

  • Secondly, I noticed that the create a discussion button in the subcommunities like Beta Feedback are broken, and just lead to gragas. For example : http://community.na.leagueoflegends.com/c/beta-feedback/submit
Note: The button at the front page of communtity still works, as I am able to post this by using that link

  • Thirdly, the coming of Jinx has flooded the Beta discussion board with posts about her, and there have been quite a few posts about Joining the PBE. So, what Beta is the Beta Feedback supposed to be about? The PBE? Or is it the Community Beta? Is it both? Considering I don't really give two hoots about Jinx (sry, I'm more of a tank guy personally.), Could we get some way to separate the two? Because if I have to wade through the already growing amount of Jinx posts to find relevant discussions to my interests, then the beta is failing it's mission.

On the first point, I talked to Krylhos in the chat room a bit about the font stuff yesterday (I happened to be in there when he dropped in and said to check out the font stuff). He was uncertain about the bold as well. Also the green font color (particularly when bold). My response was basically that the bold makes me feel like it should work like most forum solutions use bold (to indicate unread topics/posts). Since it doesn't work that way, it feels a little odd. I actually think being able to use bold in that way would be neat and useful for this board though, since there's no way to really quickly tell if there are new posts in a thread you viewed yet. That said, I do think I'd rather see it without the bold for normal use as it is now.

On the third point, it's definitely intended for beta feedback for the community. PBE stuff should be taken up in the PBE section of the main forums. But there's really nothing indicating as much. Or perhaps they should add a specific PBE discussion section in here, just to try to catch all those threads. People see 'beta' and immediately think PBE for whatever reason. Even though if you actually pay attention to context, it pretty clearly is meant for community beta feedback...

I'm not a fan of the bold title links on listing page either. It was always bold before, but the previous font never actually supported bold (kinda weird, right?). While the font is slightly more readable, I'm not a fan of how those titles came out (it really called out the weird colors even more).

Sorry about that broken link experience - that's been addressed (shame on me for not having tests for that before!)

PBE has their own community site - http://community.pbe.leagueoflegends.com While she's available on PBE, people tend to want to bring some of their discoveries out to a broader audience. Once we have community subscriptions in place, this will be slightly less of an issue.

I agree about the bolded titles. IMO bold is actually harder to read since the text isn't as crisp.

I would also like to see more sub-communities (like a PBE sub-community). Now that everything gets displayed on the front regardless of sub-community, we won't have GD syndrome like the old forum, so there's no reason to NOT have lots of clear sub-communities.
