[Feedback] Thoughts after making my first guide here.
Before I begin, the guide I will be referencing can be found here
So, I have posted the Leona guide, and I have few pieces of feedback that I feel should be heard.
- Move the community dropdown near the top of the Create A Discussion Page - Simply put, this needs better visability. Not only does it's low place on the page invite people to post in the wrong subcommunity, it is hard to figure out why the page won't post if you forgot to set it.
- Icons - So, this point I have alot of suggestions for. While I definately like the new system, I feel it still isn't ready yet for the full version.
- Finding the Icon you want can be difficult - currently there is no way to search for the icon you want, outside of scanning every line and manually finding it.
- No Champion skill icons - I really hope it isn't too much to add these, because it really would help guide writers as well as those who make the portrait comics.
- No tooltip within the post - while there is a simple tooltip in the formatting guide, once inserted into a post, the icon exists without any acknoledgement for what it is supposed to be.
- Stackable items should have a way to post how much in a stack - This info could go into a tool tip, and it would really help for potions and wards.
- This needs a WYSIWYG editor - I realize that one of these is on the way for markdown, but this is neccessary.
- Automatically give some margin - I had to space between icons as they ran together other wise. Kind of a weird feeling.
- Headers - I wish there were more sizes between header and normal text, as that would help identify subsections without having to bold and italicize them.
- Underline - it needs to exist. I was constantly wanting to use it, but had no opportunity. I need more differentiation than bold and italicize for importance, otherwise the guide looks like the giant wall of text it is now.
- Word wrap - This needs to be addressed. It does not scale with screen size, and as a result makes the guide seem longer than it actually is.
- Images - Krylhos made a comment on the guide about this, but I felt the need to go into detail here. If I embed an image, I would like to be able to have it scale to an appropriate size for the monitor, or at least choose a size that would fit in the smallest case scenario for the forums. As it is now, thumb nailed images are useless to guides, and I really wish that I could have had the 1 image I used to be even somewhat identifiable.
- Text orientation - If I have a title, I like to center it. Like wise, a way to have the pros and cons side by side would be awesome.
- Allow authors to make a ToC for longer posts - When I read a guide, I might want to skip to a certain section. Currently, the forums don't give me any tools to do this. Plz Riot.
- Make sure that your formatting guide is up to date - I am sure the more observant of you have noticed I used a couple things in the leona guide that weren't in the formatting guide. I think that it needs an update.
As a Side note, I should add that the guide is incomplete. There is no section for Summoner spells, and I didn't go into additional itemization options. I will try to add them in later, but I think that seeing as the guide is pretty long as is, Some of these points are more important to be said before finishing that guide.
The last thing I want to say is that these forums aren't really guide ready... yet. They very well could be, but the forums still need work before guides like this one have a place here.
