Do people really think 'kys' is less reporteable than kill yourself?

Just had a player talk shit on his team and when I told him to stop because he was just as bad he said "kys" "stfu just kys". His teammate said 'yeah I will report that' and he responded saying 'kys' is not bannable... How can you think it isn't bannable?

No because it can mean other things than "kill yourself".

For example, you can say: "just ky now because I'm going to buttfuck you" when you hit a snare as Lux
