Open Mindedness: Why we have problems with girl gamers, homosexuals, and even vegetarians

Although there may be some that really do discriminate based on such cases, whether it be on forums in regards to girl gamers, in politics and the real world about homosexuality, and in casual meetings and parties with regards to vegetarians and vegans, the reality is today's society is programmed to not have any problems with any such differences. The real issue here is divided, but there is a large majority of people who are willing to tolerate any of these things.

Things do change, however, when a select few closinded individuals attempt to crack down on those who are different. And thus, the different people end up accepting a label. Upon doing so, they begin to have they personality dictated by these things. Have you noticed that if you ask quite a few people (who differ in the ways mentioned) about who they are, instead of listing personality traits, they will instead list that they are gay, vegan, girl gamer, etc.. They become quite obsessive with this, and this results in conflict not just between the close minded and these people, but also the open minded people are led to behave aggressively towards these individuals who have developed victim complexes.

The question would be, how to prevent this slippery slope? It is inevitable that some would start the conflict, and it is further inevitable that some would wish to continue the conflict.

This is crucial to discuss here as well, as this in essence is the entire dilemma of League's community and ensuring positivity. How do we, and Riot, prevent a one time jab from turning into an onslaught of verbal abuse from mutliple sides?

In my mind, you are what you are, and should embrace it.

Since you're talking in Riot terms, I'd suggest just to mute anyone who starts showing off their complex like "I'm a gay, vegan, gamer-girl". In fact, in a game made of pixels, how come can you even notice if someone is gay, vegan or a girl? Unless you explicitly say it.

And why must you say such a thing? Because you have an inferiority complex and you're not happy with yourself, so, you try to find acceptation from anonymous random people in the Internet.

As I said, while playing League of Legends, just mute them.
