You don't have to wait to be nice

The honor system is coming soon, but that doesn't mean you can't start being nice to others in game now.

If you practice being nice in game now then there will be a larger chance that you will get honored.

I know it's pretty much impossible but I would be so happy if I were able to get a Ribbon before the Honor update. I don't know how close or far I am from it, but I just really want the achievement.

My friend group has this rule to be really nice to the one random when we queue as 4. This makes the game so much more fun for everyone involved (well, maybe not the enemy team).

People shouldn't "practice" being nice for the wrong reasons (just to earn free stuff). They should just be nice in general. It's called being a decent human being.

I like your attitude.

That said, there are plenty of people in this game with horrible attitudes, giant egos, and a complete lack of logic. I regularly get called toxic simply for asking team to do stuff like warding or grouping for safety and just holding a tower when we are behind instead of adc's and squishy junglers trying to solo push lanes far from team and safety with no vision. Or asking for a gank when I've been getting camped for 15 min and the lane my jungler is constantly ganking (if they're not afk farming jg all game) is getting nothing done - 2v1 they are going even in kills, not pressuring enemy tower, and not getting neutral objectives. For asking for ganks and telling them to stop wasting their time in the other lane (since they aren't getting anything for their time) I'm a toxic player. Kinda hard to be nice or believe team will honor anything I do with their attitude and logic. Even if I pull off going even in a 1v2, I will get 0 recognition. I will get ignored at best if we are winning and flamed if we are losing. I wonder why the toplaner doesn't tp bot to help when we get ganked one time in 20 min? I wonder why this idiot top can't ping mia or follow when his laner and jg comes mid. Maybe because I can't leave tower to even ward and if I do they clear them with control wards I can't kill since I'm stuck 1v2 all game. Be happy I'm not feeding, I'm even in cs, and you got 19 min of no ganks by enemy jungler instead of calling me an idiot or toxic. I try to be nice - I really do - but people who treat me like that - especially if they are losing or doing NOTHING with their leads and bleeding towers just tilt me. I usually end up replying to their harsh uncalled-for talk and poor play with some blunt honest words of my own. It's hard to be nice when people do everything to put you down and nothing to appreciate or help you. Still, like you say, I need to try to be a good teammate and positive even if it goes unappreciated by many - there are good people out there who deserve a positive, encouraging, team-focused teammate and I can't let all the negative people drag me down every game or I will end up being one of them when I am in a game with the positive ones myself.

I like the work Riot is putting into revamping the honor system in an attempt to encourage good behavior and a less toxic gaming experience. I am not sure how effective it will be. People who are Platinum and higher will likely still be as toxic as always as they are extremely competitive. Its why I do not play ranked anymore as I prefer to just login and play a couple normal games to have a good time and not sweat the outcome as much.

No way dude I have to get paid to be nice. It's just the nature of life, the world, and everything around us. /s
