Toplane is nice, expect when you're blamed for trying to Create pressure.

past few games as Nasus trying to split push, stack, and create pressure

'omg you're useless.' 'why are you never with us?'

I understand there's a certain point as which when you do play champs like that you should group, but your wasting a lot of champions like Nasus

Maybe i'm just bad at judging when to group and when its ok to splitpush. I like to think maybe my teammates will play safe and just defend till they have to split to deal with me

So Kudos on acknowledging that it MIGHT be you. That being said, I don't think it is, a lot of people don't understand that a good top laner can really dictate which team gets the momentum.

A couple things help:

  1. Pick a lane brawler, not necessarily a tank (unless no one else on the team goes tank) if you have another tank on the team they can tank the fights while you push lane.

  2. If you are even or behind, push your lane and only push your lane. Ping when your opponent is MIA but do not follow. Give yourself some good wards for early warning that enemies are collapsing on you and just push lane.

  3. The biggest thing to protect yourself from people complaining and blaming you is to trek your team ahead of time you aren't planning to roam much, and are going to just push any time you're opponent leaves lane as a way to publish him. That way your team knows what to expect.

Exception: if you are the main/only tank on the team, you need to be TPing into team fights early to absorb as much damage as possible.

A lot of people don't understand that smart players will try to force a team fight while you're splitting....

There's a bit to consider here. First, when picking Nasus, all players need to understand that you are a late game champion. If your team is in a team fight and your lane enemy is there in the fight, you need to get to the fight IF you aren't at a turret already. If you do not get a tower or objective and your team dies in a 4v5, it is your fault. If your team dies, but you get the tower, you need to either back ASAP, don't die, or roam away from where you currently are.

I think it is also important to note that if you are split pushing, you should be able to kill 1-2 people solo. Why? Because this is how you ultimately remove pressure. If you kill 1-2 enemy champs while the rest of your time is grouped, it now creates a 4v4 or 4v3 for your team pushing another lane, ultimately resulting in 2 towers and a Dragon or Baron, if played correctly and time allows.

This game is extremely situational, so simply saying you are going to split push may not always be the best solution.
