Apparently someone was hit with a permanent ban after informing another player that the 6-letter F word is against the rules, in response to their use of it.

That is the most blatant ignorance of context we've gotten. If Riot can't afford a Support team that actually looks at these cases, then they shouldn't be banning people arbitrarily.

It doesn't matter if the agreement says that they don't need a reason to ban you. That doesn't make it okay, and certainly shouldn't be tolerated by the players.

lol, stop being silly. Riot only punishes for report calls and other behavior identifying if you do it in a harassing manner. What I suggested here doesn't even come close to toeing that line.

Yea, there are multiple cases of that. It's not new.

In riots eye, those words shouldn't be said regardless of situation.

Those people banned this way can contest the punishment by submitting a ticket to https://support.riotgames.com . If they have a clean behavioral history, riot support will revert the punishment, it well be served as a warning , and if they do the same action again, the punishment stays.

Then the chat filter needs to filter them out regardless of situation. There is no legitimate argument for why the chat filter can be disabled if you can be banned for pointing out someone used a word.

No, using certain slurs is met with a ban, whether it be 14 day or permanent depends on history.

It wasn't the "quoting the rules", it was "quoting the banned words".

Quoting an Enemy's Text can help your team win?(why not say something usefull that will help your team win instead of waisting time typing pointless text ?) How does Quoting an Enemy's Text help to win the game in any way?
Why do you care about players that say bad words? (just dont say anything and mute them , and let them learn it the hard way.)

example (THAT IS MY OWN OPINION) EXAMPLE:

Its like ,,, u see a killer that shoots people on the street ,,,and you go up to him and say : thats bad !!

What do u think is gonna happend?

Also after the 2-week suspension there are no chat restrictions ,, after the 2-week suspension comes the permaban.(for whatever word you say thats bad ,,, regardless of the situation the ban will follow up). Because your account is like paper after the 2-week suspension .

With that logic you'd never type anything other than for the sake of winning... which is kind of dumb when you think about it. It's a multiplayer video game. You are meant to have fun with FRIENDS (for the most part). How do you make said friends without typing in chat? No one is just gonna add silent people because they played well.

Also, with that phrasing, you just make it seem like it's a trivial thing to see those bad words. If that's the case, why is it not also trivial to quote that text and tell them that it's toxic? Why would one be ok but not the other?

I use chat for 2 years and guess what my acc did not get any chat restriction or ban ,,, wanna know why ? because i do not abuse anybody , beeing nice wont hurt you .

At least more than 30 people add me because i play master yi mid/top on blind pick games and i get good stats because people in there dont know how to counter play him . Or when i play soraka ,,, they just add me cause they like how i play.

Because being smart to do not get hurt is good isnt it. And the about the other one,,, the game will tell them that they are toxic with chat restrictions or if worse 2-week suspension OR in worse case scenario skipping everything and direct insta permaban.

(but if u feel the need to tell them that they are toxic add them on discord or something and tell me with full detail what they are doing wrong)

Just because there are other ways to go about saying something doesn't mean that one specific way of saying it should be reprehensible. It'd be like banning the word "mad." Well, now I'll just use angry, frustrated, pissed off, etc. If you believe the synonyms of the words are OK to say, then why is the other way not OK?

Their automated zero-tolerance filter without a doubt ignored the context. The support that handled the appeal, on the other hand, did not. The other behaviour exhibited was still ultimately bad enough to warrant a permaban so shortly after the previous punishment.

So in summary: It's rather ironic that you call Riot out on ignoring context.

They're still ignoring the context though. How can you say that quoting another player is toxic enough to get a permanent suspension? Everything else that I said was mild at worst; 90% of the things I said weren't flaming. And if you use the argument that Game 2 was toxic enough for me to get banned and that the quote didn't matter, then why didn't I get banned the night before instead of today? I only got a punishment after quoting the kog'maw, as nothing else SHOULD HAVE been deemed toxic enough to warrant a ban. Riot just doesn't want to fix their mistake it feels like

Just that they have done so in the past. More specifically: They have in fact undone punishments that were the result of quoting other players' slurs. Whether it "feels" like Riot doesn't want to fix their mistake or not, your chat was negative and the stated reason for keeping the punishment in place was that negativity (which in itself actually implies lifting the punishment was considered given the context).

The support you talked to couldn't have been more specific in that regard.

Stating it or not, no one has the privilege of saying any zero-tolerance policy slurs. Regardless of the reason, situation, and circumstances. No one has special privileges. You can easily say "That slur is against the ToU", then leave it alone. If they ask "what word" don't fall for the bait and just leave it alone. Report after the game. While you're in a game the game itself is far more important than your conversations. If anyone continues the subject cause any distractions, using any negative or any sort, there will be a penalty. Everyone is responsible for what they say.
