BE THAT CONSIDERATE PERSON WHO GIVES OUT SMILES FOR FREE!!
If you watch pro players, you'll often hear them say something out loud like "I was just waiting for his cooldowns" sometimes on their stream, as to clarify an action or them doing something to their audience. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough times for it to be noticeable. The reason they do this, is because they do something in game that might look weird to an average player (such as myself), and their explanation gives that needed clarification for their actions, and puts the new situation into context, giving the realisation that said actions were thought out and planned.
I feel that this is a trait that should be reinforced through the community, through Riot, and even if possible, furthermore through the game itself (which im not sure how that would be achieved, but still)
An issue with League is that there are 5 sets of 4 cooldowns, 10 summoner spells, passives, actives, health bars and resource bars and there are probably more things that i've missed but that doesn't matter: the point im trying to get at is that there are a pretty big amount of things that need to be tracked and monitored to effectively play the game and win the match. With that being said, the plays that you make and the actions that you perform can be misconstrued or misunderstood, and if people are tilted or getting to that point of being tilted, these particular actions can befuddle people and can then result in people either becoming tilted, or, the forthcoming discussion in the game can then result in people tilting aswell.
Now, Riot did us all a HUGE favour by adding cooldown pings and various other pings in the game to communicate to our team mates our situation, and in no way am I saying that Riot has missed adding pings, or that there needs to be more communication between players: Riot has done that already to a pretty good degree imo.
However, a common occurrence in LoL is the "tilt" factor, which is too often accompanied by some level of misunderstanding; a lack of consideration, if you will. Not that consideration is an easy thing to achieve in a competitive scene. With the fast-paced action and constant attentive demands made by the game, sometimes a players ability to step back and asses a situation, or why a situation has occurred, can be significantly hindered or in many cases made non-existent by the circumstances at hand.
But when a person has the ability to take a second to analyse or re-analyse events or plans, even after they've been targeted specifically for the purpose of being put in tilt, is something that should not only be admired, but regarded as the highest-valued attribute in a person playing league.
"But we already have an honour for being tilt-proof?"
Yes we do! And that's a fantastic way to appreciate people who can withstand the test of League! I personally feel that being "tiltproof" is a very desirable trait for playing LoL, but I also feel that this doesn't encompass or recognise ones ability to see the whole picture at hand. Further more, being "tiltproof" doesn't necessarily mean that a person takes time to give a deal of consideration to the actions they make, nor does it mean that people who were good at having a level of noticeable consideration were not tilted: people who are tilted and swearing their heads off (hopefully not at their team mates) can still have the ability to critically analyse the path ahead or behind them
"But we already have an honour for shotcalling?"
And you're more than correct a second time! However the trait im talking about doesn't perfectly slot into either of those honours. For someone to have a degree of consideration, they do need to be able to shotcall, whether that be for just themselves or their team aswell, or that level of consideration is only used for their own benefit, and thus goes unnoticed and is actually pretty unhelpful.
Additionally, being tilt-proof isn't a correlation to someone having good shotcalling skills. You can be completely off your marbles in game and make calls that are great! So it doesn't lend itself to either of those fully, but more teeters to a 50/50 split (give or take from whichever side suits)
And even with the split being between the two honours of "tiltproof" and "shotcalling", the pie still can be sliced a third way!! When someone has consideration of the game at hand, they can also have a consideration of the PLAYERS in their team. Supporting someone who's down in the dumps about a game, or having the emotional intelligence to deal with people on tilt and manage to give them instructions or advice in a friendly manner, while doing the latter is beyond the realm and capacity of most players! (Including myself!) This can bring a level of positivity to the team that has the capacity to win games due to the morale boost, and I know personally that my most memorable and enjoyable experiences in LoL have been with people who have had this level of consideration, sometimes with them even being on the other team!
"But we already have an honour for having enjoyed playing with the subject player?"
Again?! You're on fire today! ;) You've just unearthed my final point! There is no honour for people who step outside the boundaries expected of league players! "So you wrote all of this just to say that we need a new honour?" Not exactly. I'll re-state what I said earlier: "I feel that this is a trait that should be reinforced through the community, through Riot, and even if possible, furthermore through the game itself"
Recognition of someone doing something good in this world is hard to come by! And at times it can feel like no one appreciates what you bring to the table, or what you give.
And an honour is great! There is nothing better post game lobby then knowing that people appreciated you for something you did, whether it be one person, or whether you get 3-4 honours. So, if you see someone exhibiting outstanding behaviour in League, let them know! Be the small positive comment that puts a smile on their face!
I would like to thank Guineapiggles, whom I laned against and lost, but their positivity and friendlyness made it a great experience!!
"So you basically made a huge post just to ask people to say nice things in league?
Yeah! I mean when you boil it down to that it doesn't sound as great, but recognising people being outstanding is a nice thing to do! And when someone goes out of their way to say something nice, or they have that heightened level of consideration during a match, it's game changing! Literally!
Make sure to commend fellow summoners when they go beyond their duties!!!
