Honored Multiple Times and Here's My Advice

My in game philosophy is this.

I allow everyone, allies and enemies the privilege to communicate with me through chat.

See, here, what I said. Players do not have the automatic right to my time, attention, and energy. They are privileged to receive those things.

If, at any time, a player insults me, I revoke that privilege by muting them and I even communicate to them after the fact, "I mute players who insult me." And that is the end of any and all conversation between me and someone who offends me.

This is not being toxic. Muting someone and letting them know you did so is not toxic so long as you do not insult them intentionally.

It is basically the same approach you would take when dealing with a fire.

You don't add more fire and dump gasoline all over it.

You simply extinguish the fire before it spreads and then you move on with your life.

Doesnt work on people like me who enjoy seeing the toxicity increase with or without my involvement, while waiting for the moment when they cross the line into "2week ban" land ;)

Thus drowning them with kindness works better than muting :)
