Riot needs to take poor sportsmanship reports more seriously

I recently had a game, as ADC, where my support threw a tantrum and rage quit bot lane. I'm sure it comes as no surprise that bot lane was lost within minutes and I fell behind. He muted me and mocked me all game, knowing I couldn't defend myself since, obviously, he wouldn't see it. The harassment went on all game and I suppose he found it amusing that I was struggling. I usually don't let bad games get to me, but this was particularly upsetting because it is a problem that gets worse every year I play league.

Poor sportsmanship is, in my opinion, the worse thing about this game. The majority of people who play - or, at least, who I get paired with - don't want to work as a team and enjoy watching their teammates suffer. Even if I win, there is no fun in it if my teammates harassed each other all game and nagged in /all chat about how terrible their teammates are. Even if I win, it doesn't feel like a victory if someone on my team mocked me all game because of their need to blame others for their own mistakes.

I'm honestly tempted to start muting everyone before the game starts because other player's attitude problems is ruining this game for me.

I'm never going to understand why someone chooses to allow harassment all game instead of muting. He used it, but you're the one that needed to, and now you're contemplating muting everyone automatically because you didn't?

Riot absolutely does punish for that kind of behavior if they are consistently like that, but if you want to mitigate the issue immediately use the Mute button when it's called for.

He muted you while continuing to harass you, knowing that he wouldn't see your points? Don't you see the obvious solution to that? You know being muted doesn't prevent you from muting others right? Do you just enjoy feeling bad and being insulted? I mean it's all good if you choose not to mute, but damn, don't make a forum post being upset about it afterwards. What's more important is that he left lane and trolled. Fuck the verbal harassment, that's solved by a simple mute. Maybe that's why they don't punish everyone with zero tolerance, when they are toxic to someone. But if he continues that, and continues to be reported for it, he will be punished.
