If you're life is getting in the way, if you don't want to play the game cause' you're pissed, if you are to tilted to even play norms... WHAM Two week ban. Take time to reconsider if you should even be playing this game. 4 games in the last 5 games I've played where a player rage quits. Players like this just shouldn't be allowed to play league.
I don't know if an immediate two week ban is the answer, all I know is that AFKing definitely needs to have more severe punishments.
Everyone and their mother AFKs like there's no tomorrow. You have people ragequitting, people going under tower to text for 2-3 minutes at a time, people who AFK just because they know the punishment isn't that severe if they were to even get punished at all.
Personally I'd aim for something like the chat restriction ladder. First offense is (relatively) minor and they gradually escalate. This is my only large complaint about the system, AFK rules need to be more strict.
Edit: And the only reason I don't think a 2 week should be the first step is because accidents do happen.
Of course I don't want anyone to AFK but sometimes it's intentional, sometimes it's not, and Riot would have to balance the system around that fact.
They used to do that. The players would just rotate to a smurf account and care even less about how their actions affected other players.

I've played since beta and only afked once, but life happens dude. No one deserves 2 weeks for ONE afk. I would have quit then and there if I got a 2 week.

I would like to see a 24 hour ban. I understand that people with spotty internet will be outraged by this idea. Also, unfortunate circumstances do exist (i.e. medical emergency, robberies, murders, hauntings, power outages, natural disasters, etc...) that may DC a person or make them AFK. I believe 24 hours isn't too harsh and will force people with connection issues or internet issues to seek a fix. I have seen someone with internet issues show up in multiple games knowing they will DC throughout the game. I feel your pain.
Why on Earth would you want to stop someone from playing their video game for 2 weeks? You are such a jerk.
I'm totally for this, just as soon as the player's thay go 0-6 in the first 10 mins also get a 2-week ban for creating an unwinable game, then refuse to ff and then go and create whining posts about banning players for going afk, having to deal with that shit and forced to waste another 20 minutes in an inevitable loss.
