Riot doesn't lock the threads -- the moderation team does. In this particular case a number of posts from a number of individuals were beginning to violate the rules, and the tone of the thread in general was serving to encourage that behavior to continue, so we locked it to avoid tempting people into breaking the rules.

You're more than welcome to discuss whether or not the filter is too strict -- as long as the conversation doesn't start digging into real-world politics, religion, or suggestions of other names that might be offensive but avoid the filter.

The correct board to complain about how the volunteer moderator locked a thread that was breaking the rules would be here;

Discuss the Boards

They locked the boards because it was just getting out of hand, and was getting to the point where people were just trying to offend others.

This is also not Riot, but part of the volunteer moderation.
