Being Bad at the Game: A Discussion about toxicity

A lot of people will tell you about the horrible teammates they sometimes get, and how bad it can be. But, it's not much better for those bad players. By bad player I don't mean that Zed that built four item 3070 and went 0/11/4. I meant that player that has stats akin to 1/7/6 on a non support. I will admit I have those kinds of stats sometimes, and I know that players better than me are having a bad time, but they give me any sympathy. They will say things like "ping dumbasss" while not specifying whatsoever what to ping. They act as if flaming me for how bad I am will miraculously make me not go 1/7/6 on Zilean. I told them at the start of the game that I would sometimes forget to ult on Zilean and yet when I do forget they act like it would have changed the course of the entire game, despite the three enemies on top of them. I just don't get why people act like saying "dumbass" or "idiot" is going to fix anything, because it won't. When I was AurelionSol and got bursted by Jhin midlane my Lucian decided it would be a good idea to rub it in, I was seriously tempted to report them. I'm sorry that this post has gone on and on, but the underlying message is. If you have someone on your team who is having a bad day, don't flame. Actually give them useful advice because that will reduce the chances of something happening again, and it will not make their day worse. Thank you!

we can all act like this game doesn't have a serious problem with pandering to bad players and making sure they dont get offended

Flaming others makes me feel better tho, after all I need a outlet for my frustration and anger

I come across this a lot like today for instance. I was in a game with a premade team on pbe and we were playing arurf my score was 4/4 mid but for some reason I was the problem even though they fed top 0/9. And get this the enemy team had a jungler and we didn't. Jungler harassed me more often then they were going top. In fact when it comes to premade teams I am always coming across this issue. They can do no wrong no matter what my score is. i can go 17/2/36 and still get flamed just because we are losing and they're premade. this is one of the many reasons I only come back for Arurf / A4O as opposed to play consistently through out the year.

Just try to get better. Ap Mid is a way easier place to learn the game than support. Also I would recommend not doing ranked, but ultimately the choice is up to you.

To be frank I think it’s because people don’t look outside of themselves. Especially in a video game. Everyone is trying to win and do their best but when it’s more stressful people think inwardly.

By thinking inwardly they forget that flaming isn’t going to help team morale and better the match. They aren’t trying to make you feel bad(there are people who just don’t care and will try and annoy or hurt you) but because they are in the moment they get upset and don’t think about their actions towards you.

Just because you think it wouldn't change the course of the entire game, doesn't mean it's true. And i find it rly funny how you're wondering why they were flaming you when you straight up said that you will forget to fucking ult xD Like honestly, what did you expect? That they will praise you?

Remember to mute players who are being toxic.

if you would like tips on some of the characters you use there are probably some videos on youtube of them.

I've actually been hesitant to get back into playing because of A) the toxicity and B) I don't want to be a cause of people having a bad time I've only been able to play a few games here and there since like...2017 since i didn't have a computer of awhile and I'm so far I don't wanna be THAT player but I also don't want to sink hours into A.I. matches just to hopefully play catch up either

or those teammates who in a losing game point to 1 tiny misplay at the end that wouldn't really matter since we were already gonna lose and pin the entire game on it saying its your fault for missing 1 skillshot or something

1/7/6 is akin to 7/7/0 unless they do nothing but hit one ability but even then it can change it from an escape to a kill for another carry

I've seen people who just pounce on every kill they can get, even when I did all the damage and deserved the kill...

Agreed! Yelling and flaming isn't going to fix a mistake, it's not going to magically make the person better. Yes, it may make you feel good, but it's no use to your team and can lower the morale of everyone. With me, if morale gets really low, I sort of give up. I'll keep playing but my heart wouldn't be in it, and I tend to try less because it would seem that I'm just screwing everything up all the time.

If you're pissed and want to flame, please just yell irl (don't do that if you have voice chat though). That's what I do. I just scream at the person in my room, instead of typing abuse (I haven't used voice chat yet). If you use voice chat and are pissed, put on some angry music, punch the wall, throw something, no reason to be a flamer to someone.

I try and offer people help and advice calmly if they're having an issue, it helps everyone learn and become better at the game. If they don't want to take your advice, that's on them now. You tried to help and assist them to play better for the team, and they choose to ignore you.

If you have someone on your team who is having a bad day,

You mean bad game? How the hell I'm i suppose to know if one of my teammates is having a bad day?

Oh wait, let me pull up my crystal ball for a sec.

don't flame. Actually give them useful advice because that will reduce the chances of something happening again, and it will not make their day worse.

In my experience and observations, being nice just leads them to stop trying. I like putting pressure on my team sometimes so they'll keep trying and will discourage them from making mistakes.

Being nice is not always the solution.

then you run into the people like you a support zilean who somehow got a kill probably at 0/6 or something close literally resetting your gold value meaning more gold for enemy and someone actually trying to help you and trying to give feedback and not saying this is you but the zil screams stfu or something in all caps or just doesn't talk and continues to do things someone trying to help them with

ÈvilMorty1/14/2019, 7:55:20 AM1 votes

Honestly these days I get flamed for picking non meta champions.

Vlada Cut1/14/2019, 8:22:48 AM1 votes

Sadly they are too unreasonable to be reasoned with.

There is no excuse for building 4 item 3070 . At that point you are just trolling and deserve a ban.
