Why are people SO RUDE and angry online?

Seriously. 75% of the people in my games are just, ANGRY and extremely rude for absolutely no reason. It's not even like the game isnt going well, people in the damn lobby are already being toxic. What happened? Jesus I want to go back 10 years when internet gaming was just starting and people actually enjoyed being around other gamers.

It's all the people who are immature, un-confident, and ignorant that go online to let out all the anger they have towards the world because nobody knows it is them. No respect for you people. I'm sorry that IRL you have such a hard time, but the internet is different, bring your hate somewhere else, especially when we are all playing the same game. It's hard enough to be a gamer and have so many people IRL who don't understand hate on you, why do you have to then hate on the people who actually understand you?

Anonymity and being on break from reality. There's a reason I generally play games on my own: I have enough of people during the day :P

It's because there is no true consequence. For example, say they're angry about something in real life... If they were to lash out at the people around them i am sure they would face consequences. Now put them in a game, and they can lash out and rage all they want. and the only thing they may suffer is a chat restriction. and ultimately account ban.
Being anonymous allows them to be whatever type of person they want. and their real life, Wont change one bit.

sigh yea i remember when i started my first mmorpg playing with 12... everyone was really nice and calm i was playing for 3 years before i found out the game has rules + an report option because i never had to use any of them lol. cant play more than 3 hours in whatever online game before i have to report someone nowadays

Because they aren't having fun, and they're frustrated so they need to unleash the rage to find some comfort.

When I played other mmorpg games the only moment when ppl act rude is when they're talking about foreign players who don't speak english, mess up group activities, can't understand what others are trying to explain, then leave without a word after screwing up a bunch of innocent players. Players otherwise act nice and friendly not because they're more mature but because they're able to find fun in their own way without causing anyone - including themselves - to suffer.
