I just had to argue the semantics of "AFK" with someone.

In my last match, the game overall was going okayish, but our adc was getting rolled, and about 10-12 minutes in says "gg, we all agree to ff right" and after one of the other four people on the team says yes, says "cool i'm gonna sit in fountain until we ff." I say we haven't all agreed to ff, please at least keep playing until an ff actually does happen in case we turn things around. More specifically I used the words "please don't sit there afk." At which point our adc informs me "i'm not afk, i'm sitting in fountain."

"That is afk." "Afk means away from keyboard, i'm at my keyboard typing so i'm not afk." "It's the same, you're leaving your team to 4v5." "It's not the same cause i'm not afk. Lmao, go back to school. Why are you a dropout."

At this point I realize this isn't a sane or rational person, and our jg is trying to cool things off before they actually get heated and saying "guys please stop." So I drop it, but the ad just keeps flaming and declaring how they aren't afk, and they can't be punished for afk since they haven't actually left the game. Right up until the ff@15 gets voted no. At which point they proudly declare "lmao now i'm afk" and leave. We battle it out for another 20 minutes before finally succumb to the 4v5. We could've won, but this person, who feels they can do no wrong chose to single-handedly decide his team should lose and left.

I can't understand how someone can genuinely ditch their team to 4v5 and have the gall to say "I'm not afk since I'm still here to flame you."

Read this as "semantics of JFK." Gotta say, I'm disappointed.

Technically, he isn't afk. However, he effectively left the game so I would still count it as afk.

He's not wrong in literal definition. Though he is wrong in the LOL community definition.

Of course, He still will get punished.

If you're arguing semantics, then he's right and you're wrong.

I had a game where I was accused of being an INTENTIONAL FEEDER because I stood in one spot for 5+ seconds to respond to something in chat. Their logic is -Standing in one spot = Afk -standing in 1 spot = afk = offering up free kills to the enemy team. Therefore standing in one spot for 5 seconds instantly means I am intentionally feeding AND afking at the same time because Me not moving is "offering up free potential kills"

People are trying harder and harder to stretch afk/inter to mean ANYTHING so they can get teammates who "underperform" (They expect challenger tier play, You dont meet that standard than you need to be removed from the game)

While they want to be technically right I give them that as i often have this same argument I tell them they are effectively afk as they provide the same disadvantage. Hell its even worse when they stay because some times they decide to come out and take a fat wave of minions with all the gold then go back to the fountain.
