Whoever my allies are from one game to the next, I no longer care about their opinions, their congratulatory comments, suggestions, orders, and especially the overwhelming amount of displaced hate that occurs in every game win or lose.

The chat is a distraction and a minefield of what people may type in to ruin the experience of the game for me.

Muting all of you is the only guaranteed safeguard I have against small and weak minds from poisoning me and dragging me down to an emotional and mental state fit for uneducated toddlers. While this does not apply to all players, even if only 20% of players behave in this disrespectful and antagonistic fashion then I am guaranteed at least one who will aim to ruin my experience in every game.

It is for all the reasons stated above that I have chosen to play my games in blessed and golden silence.

Same. It takes far too long for toxic chatters to be dealt with. Smart pings keep getting better, and those are enough for use cases south of Diamond tier.

Sorry guys, but the risk/reward is tilted way too far in favor of the trolls right now.

For every good constructive comment that's actually true and worth while in League. There's maybe 10 comments of utter garbage and pure ignorance that have nothing but a negative impact on your view of the current game.

Amen.

I have at least 5 friends that love watch LoL games and the game. They would love to play the game, but the fear to interact with such toxic community keep them far away from that wonderful game.

I wonder if Riot will disable open chat if this actually will boost the player-base numbers or not.

I mute all when I play ADC in ranked but leave chat on for support. Pressure is too much at ADC to deal with toxic ranting for me, but as Support I can laugh it off.
