Just had a 3 man group gang up on me in ARAM

I got Riven to play in my first match of the day. The game was going fine until I hit level 6. We all were pushing the first turret. Their Shyvana was low and escape to the turret, but in range for me to dive and ult. I charged up my ult, and as I was about to send my wave, the Swain on my team flashes and steals the kill from me.

Now, a lot of you think "Oh, ksing isn't a part of this game," and "It's ARAM, ksing isn't a thing." Well to me, it is, and it's rude, not to mention mean. Well, I got a little agitated at him, and slipped up by calling him an asshole. I regret that on my part but I had no idea of what was to come. After I called him out on it, Swain was like, "What, fucker?" I told him he ksed me and he called me "stupid." I said I would report him for it.

As the game went on, the Trundle, Swain, and Sivir on my team started to gang up on me. Trundle the excessive one, kept harrassing me sexually, saying things like I needed to find a girl to fuck so I would stop bitching (I had since stopped talking about the ks, but they kept saying mean things so I was like "wtf really", or stuff like that). When Trundle again said I needed to get laid and other mean things, I told him "I am a girl, you idiot." He thought I was a boy all along and was harrassing me. Sivir kept saying things like I needed to grow up and act better, or something along those lines, and to stop playing like a child. (I was playing just fine, though I couldn't get any kills because they all took them, and I would die trying to get some because they wouldn't follow up when I went in). Swain kept laughing and saying mean things too, and a lot I can't remember exactly what they said, but I am pretty astonished that I was so ganged up upon by them.

After the game, they all put in the post chat that they were reporting me for abuse, and asking the enemy team to report me too. I was like "wtf, I did nothing wrong." I pleaded for the enemy team to please report them, not me. (I know it's basically not right to ask for others to report someone, but they were doing it so I had to stand up for myself).

I sent in a ticket about this too, because I really don't want to be punished for this. I have made mistakes in the past with my language, and am working on getting it better. Even when they ganged up on me, my usual thing to do is start to rage and get really abusive, but I didn't. I'm already on 2 strikes, and my next is a 2 week ban, which I'm working hard not to get, and I really don't want to be slapped with a ban because I complained once or twice about a ks and got reported for harrassment by what seems like a 3 man premade.

This also speaks loudly about the toxicity of the players in this game, Riot. I hope you have things out there to be able to handle these premades or groups of people that downright abuse others and report people for stupid reasons, even if they didn't do anything wrong.

Sorry about my vent. Just really needed to let it out. Also, please don't comment saying I'm in the wrong or that I deserved what they said. Because I clearly didn't.

Thanks.

I've got several thoughts here, and I'm not sure you'll like some of it, but if you take this all to heart, it should help you improve. And hopefully, you won't find yourself hitting that 2-week ban (or worse).

The basis of the entire situation you found yourself in was swain getting a kill over you. That's it. Would it have been more efficient taking all cooldowns used into account for Swain to have just left you to get the kill with your ult? Yes, it would have. Riven ult is a far lower cooldown than Swain's flash. I can respect that. But also realize that this game is chaotic and you don't have the ability to directly communicate with your teammates in that moment.

Riven charging up her ult isn't exactly the most obvious thing in the world. In the heat of things, Swain probably didn't realize you were going to get the kill with it shortly. He might have even been worried that you were going to just up and dive the tower and die trying to finish off the kill. Had you been able to be in voice comms with the rest of the team, you could have easily said "I've got this one guys". In that case, if the swain does flash up to take the kill after you've basically called them off of it, then yeah, he's being a bit of a dick.

But honestly, outside of that environment with direct comms, as much as you've already dismissed the statement, there really isn't such thing as a ks. At least partially. Sure, somebody can take a kill from you that you could have secured yourself. But it isn't worth getting upset with the other player over such things.

This isn't to excuse the behavior of the group of 3 you ran into. They certainly deserve to be reported for harassment. Their response was certainly unacceptable. But your choice to bother taking the time to make your disapproval for swain flashing for a kill known, and especially in the way you did it, is really what set everything off on the wrong foot to begin with.

The point of all this is to say that it's okay to get frustrated over things in this game. It's going to happen. You'll run into people who frustrate you, guaranteed. But if you can't voice your frustration constructively, then it's only going to hurt things to take the time to put them into chat. Who knows, perhaps the entire situation you were in could have been avoided by simply saying "aw man, I coulda finished that kill off with my ult" instead of being accusative.

Beyond that, some general advice to help you make sure you avoid getting caught up with another punishment:

  1. Don't announce reports or threaten to report. There's no point to doing it, and doing so can actually be considered harassment itself and get you punished. If you're going to report somebody, just report them after the game and move on.

  2. Mute liberally. You want to avoid any temptation to start arguing with people. The moment somebody starts harassing you, just mute them. Referring back to point 1, report them after the game and move on. Defending yourself can be okay, but many people get caught up in the heat of the moment and self-defense becomes counter-offense. The moment you retaliate, you're just as much in the wrong as the other person was.

If you're really working hard to correct your behavior, I don't want to see you get banned from the game. But it won't be easy. You have to break old habits and form new ones. If you've already been punished twice, it'll take 6 months of not getting punished to clean your slate.

There is an ignore option, I suggest making good use of it.

And with a name like SnugglePuggle, shouldn't they have told you to find a guy? I'm not judging, LGBTQIA proud.

Kill stealing exists only in games where you act and benefit on an individual basis, such as mmorpg or fps. Though you're still playing a specific character, you're contributing for the benefit of the entire team, hence that term doesn't make sense here and it was misbrought over by players from other game genres. The difference between you getting the $ and teammate getting the $ is the efficient use of that $ to help the team out.

For example, if you spent all the effort to do dmg only to have a teammate secure the kill from last hit, and that teammate made full use of that $ to contribute to winning the game then - as unpleasant as you may feel - that's not a problem. If the teammate doesn't do dmg, takes the kill, then sits there afk'ing then that teammate is harming the team and only then can you call him/her kill stealing since that player's no longer considered part of the team.

I don't get this thread. You were in the wrong from the start here. Whining about kill-stealing in a team game, cursing at him. You kinda had the flaming coming.
