What is riots positioning upon leaving when bullied?

Scenario

-you said nothing all games, flamed no one, literally haven't typed once -You have a very positive score -everyone on your team is feeding -those same players are flaming you, maybe even using extreme words like calling you a %%%%%%, or a failed abortion -One guy even afkd

At this point can the guy enduring this just be given a free pass and say "fuck this im out?"

Would love some mod insight on this scenario

I'm flattered. Not everyone can be like me though!

On topic though, Riot doesn't use context. All leavers are treated the same.

There is nothing physically stopping you from leaving a game. If you want to leave, then you should leave.

Leave occasionally and you get hit with low priority queue. Leave a lot and you might catch a ban.

Riot basically says:

Option 1: suck it up Option 2: mute Option 3: option 1 or 2 and additionally keeping your own cool with no retaliation. Report after the game without asking for reports.

Riot has said to mute them, and just keep playing until the game ends and try to surrender and see if your teammates will just voluntarily end the game. Don't int, don't open lanes, and don't AFK/leave, and then just report them after.

The reason they say don't leave is because leave buster is a separate system and it's based on whether or not you left, not why you left.

To put it in perspective, AFK/Leaving a game is a different "crime" than toxic behavior.

It's still a "crime" that negatively impacts the game and is labelled as a reportable offence, regardless of the circumstance.

As unlikely as the scenario may be it may still happen but as previous players have commented, every player has the power to mute and disregard hate speech/verbal abuse.

No. Youre not allowed to leave. Leaverbuster is entirely automated and does not care about your reasonings. The only time youre allowed to leave is in custom games (possibly only solo as well, idk the specifics)

I don't speak for Riot, but I'm fairly certain they're stance is they don't want you to AFK regardless of what's going on.

The ability to mute people is there specifically so you don't have to endure someone who's flaming you / other teammates (or maybe they're just not pleasant to listen to In the first place).

You can still get a leaver buster penalty for leaving the game even if someone else does it first, which reinforces the fact that they really want you to stick it out (even if it sometimes feels really lousy). As FailedAbortion said, there's nothing stopping you from leaving, but you should expect leaverbuster to get you if you do.

Currently there's no "free pass" where Riot deems it acceptable / unpunishable to leave a game for any reason. Basically just mute if you're being harassed in chat, and attempt to surrender as soon as you're able to. There's really nothing more you can do beyond that unless you're willing to deal with leaver buster.

That guy is a genius.

I always say - if you just don't wanna play a game, your best bet (no punishment) is to straight up leave. Don't say anything, don't respond, just leave.

You'll, at best, get the waiting ban, but it passes quickly.

Honestly, getting punished for few and far apart AFKs is rare, so in a scenario like this where staying provides no benefit for anyone and serves no purpose at the cost of your mental health, you could just leave. I wouldn't recommend quitting if there's at least one reason to stay, such as a teammate who didn't do anything wrong. This isn't a free pass, mind you. It's just pointless for Riot to spend time punishing players for a one time offense that could be attributed to something like a power outage or a real life emergency (or as an escape from undeserved abuse.)

write down who to report / take screenshots

fullmute all and ride out the game

collect honor + toxic teammates tears

If the punishment system was working as intended, we wouldn't need a mute button. Get rid of automated bans.

You cannot be bullied online. You have many methods of instantly distancing yourself from the conflict. If you are truely that upset, even when you mute the player in question, you always have the option to alt tab and close the game. If you don't leave frequently, you wont get punished. I do this sometimes, but not because I can't handle the words of strangers online, but rather something came up and I need to go.

afk bans are uncommon but can happen tho. just dont afk all the time

Colgate Gator5/15/2018, 3:10:23 PM1 votes

Considering you can mute them, finish the game and report them. No, don't AFK.

Child of the Pit5/14/2018, 9:49:31 PM1 votes

/mute (playername)

and now it's just the usuall game with feeding teammates...

Srsly, if you can't take flaming, just do it? It does not cost any money, just use it...

Use. The. Mute. Button.

Christ. What do you think it’s there for? Report them after the game. Leaving only hurts you in the long run (you get punished and you miss the opportunity to report vile behaviour)

Though this scenario almost never happens since almost nobody I’ve come across targets players doing well and that don’t draw attention to themselves on chat.

Gotta say I think you should be able to leave without being punished, but only if people genuinely troll you with their gameplay.

It sucks to get insulted or passive aggressively ping-spammed, but people can simply be muted to prevent that. Only gameplay-trolling is unavoidable in-game.
