"Rent" would be subscription pay

This is not a game where people pay a monthly subscription. If someone is banned after being one of the customers that allows Riot to keep their company running for all the non-paying players who exploit them, it's not like they lost something they've been paying a monthly fee for.

It's like if you were kicked out of your apartment AND the landlord burned everything you owned.

So don't make bait threads for people who have such little gaming experience that they think League of Legends is supposed to be as friendly as a church.

Edit: I see some of you are attempting to use Riot's intentional exploitation of legal jargon as your argument. That's perfectly fine.

All you're doing is proving that it's worded just right for them to steal from minors without paying any attention to the fact the game's design harbors the NATURAL "toxicity" of a competitive online game.

If you can't handle a little bad attitude, go play a noncompetitive game. Hate speech isn't tolerated there either, but don't expect the type of community to change when it's a direct result of the type of game this is.

I'd say it's closer to having your gym membership revoked permanently due to violation of ToS.

You were paying for access to their facilities, but they still own everything you have been using.

TERMS OF USE AGREEMENT... IV. OWNERSHIP ... B. Game Assets, Riot Points and Virtual Items. ... You acknowledge and agree that such Game Assets are accumulated as part of your Account and therefore you shall have no ownership or other property interest in any of those Game Assets. ... If you have a valid, active Account, you may participate in our Riot Points service offering, which is a redeemable point system that operates like virtual currency (“Riot Points”) used to license certain Game Assets that can be used while playing the Game, including, without limitation, special champions, champion “skins,” and boosts (“Virtual Items”). ... YOU FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT THE RIOT POINTS SYSTEM AND THE VIRTUAL ITEMS YOU ACQUIRE HAVE NO MONETARY VALUE AND CANNOT BE REDEEMED FOR CASH. NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE ...

Direct your attention to this line:

... is a redeemable point system that operates like virtual currency (“Riot Points”) used to license certain Game Assets ...

You are paying a one time fee to license game assets. This means the business model is you gaining access to game elements that Riot retains ownership of.

As with basically all things license, permission/ access is well within the rights of the owner to revoke.

Uh, except you never owned anything.
