In case I get banned

Just want to on-the-record say what happened. Just came off a chat restriction (I'm not toxic but I defend myself when people are being toxic to me which = me being toxic according to lol). I take 30 seconds at fountain at the start of the game while 3 of my teammates invade. All 3 of them die. I get blamed for them all dying, and proceed to get harassed for the ENTIRE game. Kept telling them how rude/immature they are, to calm down because its a game, and that them being toxic makes other people not even care to play that game anymore. Him and his friend both reported me at the end of the game. I'm sure I'll get some sort of punishment because riot doesn't care what the other people had said to you, they just look at your chat logs and assume you are being toxic.

they don't assume you being toxic, the system verifies that you are toxic.

false reports get thrown out, and counter attacking them is not defending yourself.

Did you get an email from Riot Games with your chat logs that lead to the restriction?

Sorry for the confusion. I got a chat restriction a few weeks ago which I am no longer on. The game I am talking about from the OP JUST happened today. I don't record my games so I was confused on how I can get chat logs but I see you thought I was currently on one from this game.

Oh, my bad. Then you can't get them. Just play positive in the future then and this game today will be considered a fluke.

I know reading these threads and seeing things posted from players like this is difficult. Its impossible to tell who is telling the truth, who is lying, and who thinks they are telling the truth. I am a genuinely nice player. I talk to people, joke around, encourage the team etc. I just have a mental roadblock that has a hard time just letting someone say whatever they want for no reason whatsoever. When people just start hardcore harassing a teammate because of the SMALLEST thing, I just have to tell them how ridiculous they are acting.

I know people say just mute, but then I just get furious knowing this person can just say that and still win a game. With that being said, I just don't see how telling other players they are acting immature/ignorant and all its doing is hurting their chances to win, is considered toxic by me. The current system setup really punishes people like myself. If there wasn't a toxic player in any of my games, I would NEVER be toxic, period. So why can someone treat me like complete garbage, but I cant tell them to stop acting immature? I can understand if I started cussing at them and flaming, but just telling someone how they are simply being ignorant? IDK, doesn't seem fair to me.

I'm so glad that you're a nice person and I support the fact that you stand up for your teammates. However, you need to do it diplomatically, both when defending your teammates' actions and your own. Think about what you're saying; would a report for that be considered legitimate by the system?

I honestly don't know how you respond to your angry teammates and I don't want to make any assumptions, so how about we roleplay?

If I were to say about your teammate, "ashe so stupid cant group[ to teamfight]" "pushes top instead" "go back to bronze ashe," how would you respond to me? (I said I was a diamond smurf at the beginning of the game, and am doing appropriately well.)

Or if I said, "kalista picks trash champion and expects to win gg" and then the Kalista goes 0/3 in lane, "kalista feed twitch and annie lol gg" "kalista trash," how would you respond? (I'm 0/2 in lane.)

Or, I spam missing pings on your corpse and say, "f***ing retard" "so bad," what do you say to me? (I'm the jungler and have been farming the whole game.)

Or, you're top lane and I, the mid laner, get dived and say, "TP YOU IDIOT WE COULD HAVE TURNED." How do you respond to your grey-screened teammate? (This is my first death.)

Or, "I hope you and your family get cancer Ahri. you've ruined this ranked game." "Ahri would score less on the IQ test than a vegetable." "Oh look, Ahri's dead again. Piece of f**ing sht." What do you say to me? (I'm the jungler and I haven't died yet. Ahri's only kill is because of me.) (You can be Ahri or your teammate can be Ahri.)

I know you're not not under any in-game stress, but I want to hear what your response would honestly be to one of those situations (or all of them, if you want). Also, if you're going to do one, respond to the one that would make you the most angry.

Know that when people act maliciously towards you or your teammates, they're bringing themselves down. If you respond honorably, you keep your dignity. If you act maliciously back, you're bringing yourself down to their level. Maybe you're not quite as mean, but you're still being mean. Don't let these people bring you down to their level. You're the better person than them, but you need to show that by not letting them get to you.

If those would be your responses, then you have nothing to fear. That's you being assertive, not aggressive. That's the kind of response I would give too.

Totally understand. It doesn't help from a gameplay standpoint to flame teammates; are people expecting that their teammates will do better when insulted and put down? It also doesn't look good on them as people for getting angry in a computer game and attacking other people. Like, can they not just be nice people? It's so much more fun to be in a team with friendly people and maybe get an honor or two after the game. Also, after thoses responses I got, I'll say that you're not bringing yourself down to their level. You're keeping your head high.

They assume you are being toxic in that scenario because you are. Pointing fingers and saying "but they did it first!" is the logic of a child. Just mute them, report them, and move on.

Context does not matter, even if you are "defending yourself" you are still making the experience even worse for the other non-toxic players in the match. If you continue that behavior you will move up the punishment tiers which go like this:

10 game chat restriction 25 game chat restriction 14 day suspension permanent suspension

Your first problem is not using the mute button. You are only encouraging them when you interact with them. That is what they want and you have it to them. This is the reason why everyone who comes on these boards claiming they are defending themselves we will always tell them the best way to do that is to mute and report after the game. You give them evidence when you talk to them when they are the ones who should get punish.but you feed them every time you hit that enter key!

It's not that Riot doesn't care what other people do. there stance is that you shouldn't retaliate because (like in real life) it almost never works and will usually result in both parties getting punished. You are responsible for your actions and yours alone. Doesn't matter who started it you should be the bigger person and end it right there by muting them!
