Permanent Suspension Isn't Right

Ok sure but why·7/26/2016, 9:30:02 PM·2 votes·279 views

Please listen to this with an open mind. This has gotten me thinking long and hard, and there needs to be a better way.

This hasn't happened to me, but shit. It's worrying. Think about it, guys. Some people really do have problems with toxicity. You don't know if someone has Tourette Syndrome or something. You don't know if their parents divorced, or if their dog killed himself. Not everyone is just a troll; some people just can't help it.

I'm not saying to go easy on toxic people. No one would ever dare agree with such a horrid idea. I'm just saying, no one should lose their entire account because of it. People spent their money on this game; they own skins that not everyone has, because they enjoy the game that much, and it made them feel good, and special. Banning them won't keep them away. If they really do enjoy the game, they'll make a new account and come back, only without the skins they spent their money on.

What I propose is this. Don't ban them. Reset them. Bring them back to level 1, remove their champion mastery, and ranked status, and take away all the things they spent IP on. They're still basically resetting either way; just in this case, they won't lost the tens or hundreds of dollars they invested into the game they truly love.

The goal of permaban isn't to reset your account, but to get you to stop playing league and be a nuisance to others.

Then where is the punishment? Going back to level 1 is nothing and is only punishing new players to play with toxic players. At least the hope is that when Riot takes away the account you quit; due to the finical loss.

Your problem is that you apparently think Riot actually wants these players to stick around. Riot has stated many times that they do not want players making a new account caused their first one was perma banned. Just cause these players do does not mean Riot is endorsing these new accounts.

It is RIGHT that Riot says that they do not want X player around anymore and removes teh incentive to stick around.

Spending money on a game doesn't give you the right to be an asshole though. I don't really understand why you should go easy on people that ruin the game others, especially when they're given three warnings unless they do something particularly bad.

When you get perma banned is not the time to think "Wait, maybe I should change". You have 3 other warnings to do that. When you are permabanned it's Riot way of saying "Fuck you, we don't want you here".

And why would they? If you get perma banned it's because you have highly unnacceptable behavior and is probably driving people away from the game. They have no reason at all to give those players extra chances.

  1. You're now only proposing more toxicity to be seen at early levels where people are new. Dafuq

  2. I don't think his dog died/parents divorced 4 times in order to go through the 4 punishment tiers.

Eh, could double the suspensions for each offense. Minimum 5 years for anything that would warrant a permanent.
