What is the reason for moderation on forums to be so draconian?

This is a legitimate question and I would like an answer.

Edit: So according to Deep Terror Nami, the answer to "For what reason is it this way" is "Because they must", but why must they? well "because they must", but why must they? "because they must".

I had never run into "But thou must" in real life until today...

Because they are paid to enforce the Universal Rules. If they don't do that then they aren't doing their job. If you aren't in direct violation of one of those rules, then it's not that strict (especially in GD). Maybe you just need to review the rules again?

Ooh, draconian, that's something to add to the bingo cards, right next to fascist, crybaby, and first amendment rights

To answer the question, the moderators are _ strict _ because Riot tells them to be strict. Why does Riot tell moderators to be strict? Probably because they don't want their official forums to be YouTube comments or twitch chats. That's my hypothesis

Ive made posts making fun of Riot and they delete them immediately and ask me to move it to some irrelevant forum.

Offtopic, but you asked me yesterday what anime was the gif from.

For some reason the thread was deleted, because fuck that's why, apparently.

In any case, the anime seems to be named "Denki-gai no Honya-san". Beats me, thought, I've not actually watched it.

ya, mods must be strict, cos Riot dictates it. Keep in mind the mods aren't Riot, they just follow rules by Riot.

If your question is "Why does Riot need such strict rules?" It because they are lefty feminists.

Simple: because they have literal 0 focus on changing how the boards are handled. Nothing is strictly broken, so nothing to be fixed.

I would postulate that anyone who HAS experience with managing things like forums is not in a position that gives them any say on the matter. This leaves us with people who are in charge of them that just allow the status quo to continue. There are many improvements that could be made, but the people overseeing the boards either don't care to improve it, or (much more likely), don't have the resources or power to actually make change.

I got one of my posts modified three times by a moderator. I felt really offended by that. A moderator just cant delete the sentences he wants. I prefer my posts deleted entirely than MY OWN WORDS modified. I just named a list of users autobots.
