You're much more likely to get your desired role (or guaranteed, with 5 players).

You're much less likely to run into people that force you to use the mute button. (except enemies-- but there's no downside to muting every enemy on start-up)

And it makes the game much easier to communicate in. You can discuss things with your team before finding a match, and you can more easily voice chat than you can with strangers.
