Why is asking people to report someone a bad thing?

I feel as though I remember reading that it is even a reportable offence.

Why? I am not asking because I do it and don't want to get in trouble but I tend to forget when someone says or does something reportable in a match and unless I am reminded when someone says "please report X" I won't report them. If someone says some racist shit I will forget before the match ends because I didn't care in the first place but if someone on my team says "report udyr toxic" then I will remember what he said and report. Same goes for afks on the enemy team. If someone never connects for the enemy I will probably not remember to report it unless they ask for reports as the match is ending.

Nothing really bothers me in games like this so I very often forget to report players that deserve reports but when reports are asked for I remember and do it. Why is this a bad thing?

I believe it is a reportable offence because it could be considered a "witch hunt" scenario. The mentality is if we all gang up on this one player then they'll get reported times 9 and he or she is going to get punished. If people read these boards, they would realize that 1 report on a game carries as much weight as 9 reports on a single game.

Often times I don't report people because they ask. Especially when the enemy team says "Report X for being toxic". I'm under the mentality of, they weren't toxic from what I could see so I have no merit to report them. But that's just my take on things.

Anything can be be a thing if you balance AP, AD, CC, and tankiness properly. It's just tougher to take towers without an ADC. Perhaps with an ADC top (properly counterpicked) and a tanky jungle. Who knows?

I beleive it has to do with report accuracy. If at the end of a game i say "report udyr flamed us all game said he would eat my first born" you have no idea if he actually said that.

Thus unknowingly uou are diminishing the value of your own reports in the long run as well as (potentially) trying to punish an innocent person.

It is bad because if for no other reason than it is inflammatory. Almost every time I see someone say the word report in game it is immediately followed up by more toxicity. People should report what they feel should be reported not what you feel should be reported. If you need to make a note for yourself or w/e to remind yourself to report something then maybe you should. I doubt everyone in a game is forgetting to report things like racism often though.

Nevermind that this method won't be relevant and would naturally give biased results, nevemind that, like ninety percent of winrate arguments, the actual reality is not represented in the fabricated scenario you are applying the numbers to, "The survey said toxic people use the word 'report' and a couple of players we talked said they don't like being told they are being reported, so that means the word 'report' is toxic and if you say it, the community agrees you deserve a ban". Yes, I'm being blunt and unforgiving for a point, I know that. But that's pretty much the most likely reason why.

Honestly if you forget to report someone, then their behaviour was likely not that bad so they probably did not deserve a report.

It's a reportable offense because a while back people would abuse the system by bullying other players than trying to convince the other players to report the player they were bullying.

At the end of the day though, you should be responsible for the reports you make. If you feel someone should be reported, go ahead and report them. Let everyone else make their own decisions as well, there's no need to ask them to report someone.
