Trolls in Ranked - A Design to Prevent it?

Player Behavior

Dear Riot, and community.

I will not point out players, or shame anyone. However, I believe that there needs to be improvements to Champion Select in more ways than what is currently being worked on.

TL:DR (There is none, if you haven't got the time to read this before posting, your comment will be ignored.)

I just finished a game where I had decided to play support(ranked), my team got to champion select and everyone seemed friendly, so I thought--'Wow! This is going to be a great game!' Boy, was I wrong. Being the red team our supposed "ADC/MM" was last pick, pretty great right?-- it would have been had our "friend" picked an ADC... he/she instead proceeded to pick 'Sona' and locked in. Not only did this player have no willingness to cooperate, we were more of less stuck in a match that we all knew was going to end horribly.

My honest suggestion isn't a 'Report Player' option in the Champion Select window, but rather an option for players to essentially "dodge" without penalty or reduced penalty, but the only way I can see this working is if;

> A: _Three or more players must highlight a "Dodge Queue due to ..." in order to allow the players to dodge the current match, incurring a specific 'Ranked' lockout of increasing duration, based on the amount of times that the feature is used in a season. (Yes, this could prevent players from playing their desired gamemode for a short period, but would prevent them from degrading 'x' amount of League Points due to one player.) _

or

> B: _A system is implemented that adds a interface before the game is launched, allowing players to vote on whether or not a player is being uncooperative, lets assume that this window is only present for 10 seconds; in that time, the team realizes that their ADC decided that they didn't get what they wanted and were going to "troll", locking in a clearly unorthodox choice of champion for their role in the game. _

Now, you are probably thinking; "Well, players are just going to abuse this system when a match isn't in their favor!"; and yes, a few might, there are always those few that will abuse of any system-- prevent them from abusing it again. Using the same system that is used to catch AFKers, adjust it to work with the previously mentioned system; however make it fool-proof. The tribunal uses a system to allow the community to judge players who are in the wrong, we can also ask the community to judge whether or not the "dodge" was reasonable or not. If the case is found to be unreasonable, simply incur a penalty to the player(s) League Points as if they had dodged a ranked game normally.

Of course there are flaws with my "design" (does that word fit? sure why not) and I'm sure many of you will notice them or find the flaws eventually, as there are always going to be flaws. I however ask that instead of just ignoring the flaw, point it out and we can work on something as a community.

Just a fun fact: Ahri <-- _Is the reason I started playing League of Legends. _

The flaw is you think you should be allowed to dodge because a player is off meta. It does not say you need an adc to play the game.

No, no, no. You say the person picked Sona and had no desire to cooperate. Does that mean during the game that they did nothing? No heals? No poke mage stuff? Or did everyone just give up when Sona was picked at the start?

Some of you have to get out of this mind set that "having two of these means we lose." It can if you work at it. But if all everyone does is give up at character selection and then whine about it for twenty minutes before surrendering, well, you kinda screwed yourself there, didn't you? Has anyone seen the message on the loading screen that players who are harassed play worse than they usually would? It's true, it's true.

If the player purposely intended to disrupt the game, you can always report them. Riot will make the final determination.

This might not be necessary once the new champ select is implemented.

I can already see this feature being abused. I don't have a lot of faith it will change anything when people are already saying they'll report you because of the character you chose to play.

Dude. We have so much in common.

I should be allowed to dodge when my mid laner plays a traditional AP mage then, right? Oh no, my top laner is an AP tank when we already have an AP midlaner! Why not min-max everything I can and only play with comps I like? Why do I have to play a multiplayer game with other people that have made their own choices?

You can get comps you like if you get friends, I heard, with the coming queue changes. Queue up with a premade, problem solved.
