I recently got "Chat Restricted" - What can I do to calm myself when I'm being instigated?

I will not discuss what exactly I had said while I was angered, however-- I will discuss the situation that led me to say things that were graphic enough to cause my Chat Restriction.

I joined a game, which seemed to have started on a VERY bad foot. Player A had given up four kills to Enemy A who was a VERY powerful champion that scales VERY well with items... that's not the problem. The problem was, that after Player A had died these four times to Enemy A, he/she decided to "quit" the game, and leave us with a VERY uneven and quite frankly unfair disadvantage. I could've dealt with a loss, but then Enemy A began to bully me personally, and incite hatred in his direction. (I know he/she was intentionally bullying, because his/her comments were directed at me; either by my summoner name or champion name.) I ended up saying something quite... offensive.

My question, and the reason for this post-- is: **What advice is there, that can help someone such as myself to control their anger and not say such hurtful things out of retaliation? **

You may consider unbinding your enter key Muting all hide the chat interface simply by dragging it off screen Listen to some sweet music while playing league Stop caring about what people say on the internet

Best of luck to you

The other players all provide suggestions that will help you put a bandaid on the problem. Those solutions are "patching" the pipe - instead of replacing it with a new, better, sturdier pipe.

What I'm getting at is you need to figure out why you are so passionate about a meaningless videogame to want to flame people for doing bad/flaming. If someone's flaming you, by all means mute them. But there's no reason to mute all - what that means is you're "triggered" by the most minimal thing that you find it better to just mute all chat. Rethink this game. You play League to enjoy yourself, do you not? If you're not enjoying yourself, it's either because you need to find a new game you enjoy (no shame in that), or because you're letting the game get to you. Someone flames you? Mute them. Someone's intentionally feeding? Don't feed the trolls, and revel in the satisfaction that they're getting angry at your non-response. Someone's playing poorly? We've all been there.

The good news is somewhere upwards of 85-90% of players who are given chat restrictions improve their behavior and do not get punished again. You made the right step by asking for advice now, instead of being like some players who don't realize they're the problem until after they get banned.

TLDR: Rethink your outlook and reasons for playing League, and make attitude adjustments accordingly.

One last thing, I notice you're only bronze 3, but you still get a border and icon - iff (if and only if) you finish all of your restricted games by midnight Pacific time tonight. Get out there and rush some ARAMs if you want to keep your rewards - all matchmade game modes (minus maybe coop vs AI since you're level 30) count including ARAM.

I kind of suffer form an impulse to bitch at people in All Chat if I get ganked or killed too much. I've recently chosen to mute All Chat to help me break this habit.

So my advice to you, if the enemy players are trying to salt you, is to mute All Chat entirely. There's nothing worth seeing there anyway.

The key is to acknowledge the fact that its a game, and doesn't matter. You aren't going pro, so there's no real reason for you to get like that over a game. Winning isn't gonna change anything in your life, and the same can be said about losing. Also stay in school

Just mute everyone. All you really need to communicate is pings.
