What is the problem with Normals?

Why am I never matched with Bronze players anymore. Just got out of a game with only Golds and Silvers aside from me being Bronze

This is a huge trend recently for me. Even when I was Bronze IV earlier this year, I was being matched with Silver V's and Gold III's. Wtf is up with that?

If people are going to use the argument, "You aren't going to climb because you're at your peak performance, which so happens to be Bronze." then why the HELL am I being matched up with people who's worst (play-making abilities) are HIGHER than MY _peak _ performance!?

Normal matchmaking blows.

In normals you are equal to them. Their normal mmr is the same as yours, unless they are premade with a newbie. Since the numbers are different you could have a higher rating in normals than ranked.

You can have an mmr equal to what it would take to be gold in normals and still be bronze in ranked.

Well i don't know how I would have gotten gold mmr in normals since I used to lose and win equivocally. Now I'm losing like 7 games in a row before I get a mercy's rule game. Then back to losing again.

As far as I know, normal and ranked mmr are slightly different. If you do great/bad in one it doesn't matter in the other

Honestly I don't know too much of the technicalities... but I think I know that RANKED mmr counts separately from NORMAL mmr....

I heard from my brother that they are being mixed together, but idk. It's something worth looking into if you're interested....

appearently my MMR for both ranked and normals are the same? o-o

But appearently they're different..

I have 917 MMR and that's apparently high in B3 but apparently normal for my normal.. xD

I don't even know If im reading this correctly.

The "check MMR" only checks your Ranked MMR even if you click on the Normal match sorting.

I'm bronze and I enjoy seeing a silver and gold on the other team because I then strive to play better.

I tend to do a lot better in normal games then I ever do in ranked.

I don't want to go up against Gold II's every game, sorry.

It's like setting up a fight between an 11 year old verse a 25 year old every day without letting the 11 year old train/recover from yesterday's match.

I want to develop skills vs people who I'm currently equal to before I start trying to take on better players.

Gold II was the highest in the match (and on the enemy team, of course) I went against when I posted this. The game before that was Gold III and Gold IV.

Even went against Diamonds, but that was because they qued up with unranked players.

There are a few reasons. First of all they are separate, as there seems to be confusion about that. The major difference is the pressure you are subconsiously putting on yourself and others to succeed.

You may do better in normals because you arent trying as hard and trying too hard can cause worse performance overall. It could also be your opponents are the type of people that do worse without that pressure and that causes them to lose more in normals.

They could also be premade with someone of a much lower mmr.

Why? Do Bronze players never play normals or something? Tired of getting rekt in normals by someone 2 whole ranks than me. Bad enough when playing ranked I get at least 1 afk/troll

Its more likely that they just don't try as much in normals as they do in ranked. Or that you perform worse in ranked, although it looks like you are climbing out of bronze just fine.

Couple things though. For one, you don't have enough games played in ranked for it to really mean much. You need to play at least 100 or so more games to really be properly placed. I dont know how many games you have in normals either but it requires a high volume of games as well. A lot of people who are bronze skill level probably are simply un ranked because they don't play ranked since there isn't as much to gain and people who aren't good at something usually aren't as competitive about it.

It sounds to me more like you are psyching yourself out. Maybe you should try not looking at ranks until after a match and evaluate how it went before you see their ranks.

That's the thing.. I only ever check ranks after a match. I lag too much when a game is loading up, so naturally I wait.

Check my match history. The losses are against mostly golds and silvers. My wins are against bronze players. Its like.. wtf.
